Jeff Curry was born in Lewisburg, West Virginia, in 1978. He started on trumpet at thirteen, then switched to electric bass, and began studying string bass and jazz at sixteen. After high school, he attended the University of North Texas, studying with bassists Lynn Seaton and Jeff Bradetich, performing with big bands and touring with "Little Jack Melody and his Young Turks." Jeff moved to Tokyo in 2004 and has since become one of the city's busiest bassists, recording on numerous albums and releasing seven of his own. He founded and leads the bands The Outer Rim and Izmatik, and runs Jeff Curry Music, providing buyout music for media producers.
