Diane Cameron is an International Vocalist having performed both on the continents of Asia and Africa. She is an accomplished writer with serveral works published on major websites. She is the author of a children's book as well as a book entitled "The Diaspopra Chronicles" which outlines and celebrates the triuumps and trials of the African Diaspora since slavery. As a playwright, serveral of her plays have delighted audiences all over the United States and her play "The Loud Cry For Freedom" will premiere in Benin, Afrca in August of 2005. Her First CD "This Woman's Heart" garnered an invitation to Tokyo for 3 months because of its popularity. Her sophomore CD "The Reconciliation" will be released in July 2005.

Diane Cameron is a multitalented singer, songwriter, actress, and concert promoter originally from Chicago, Illinois. She entered the entertainment arena as a Jazz dancer and make-up artist for Ebony Fashion Fair where she traveled throughout the United States and Canada. Diane auditioned for her first theater role and was cast in the leading role for the Hilton Head Island, SC production as Miss Sherman in the play FAME in 1991. Ms Cameron went on to be featured in Big River, Prelude to a Kiss, Merrily We Roll Along, and Midsummer's Night Dream. She was nominated for Best Actress of The Year Award from the Theater Jacksonville production of August Wilson's "The Piano Lesson" in 1997. Here she tackled the complex characterization of the lead female role of Bernice. Diane took a hiatus from theater in 1997 to concentrate on organizing and producing benefit concerts & singing and songwriting. The proceeds from her musical contribution on the compilation J.A.N.E. CD "Africa's Fruit" benefited homeless and disadvantaged women in Jacksonville. In 1998 She organized and produced the S.W.I.N.G. benefit concert for St. Augustine, FL, & this effort contributed toward a children's playground. Diane has written over 50 songs from the heart and usually addresses issues that affect women. She says "It never fails to happen when I write a song about my life that I'm singing about someone else's." In 2000 Ms Cameron completed a 3-month tour in Japan with the Phil Morrison Trio and will tour West Africa Europe and Asia as part of her promotion of the arts and reconciliation in 2004-2005. In 1999 Diane toured Memphis at Alfred's and the Gibson Guitar Center. She received great reviews from for the Beale Street crowd. She toured Chicago in 2001where she performed at the famed KoKo Taylor, Buddy Guy's Legends and Lee's Unleaded Blues Club. She has appeared in Atlanta at the Bayou Room, Cafe 290, Breezes, City of Douglasville Summer Concert Series Festival, as well as the stage in theatrical productions. In Alabama and Florida, Diane has played at some of the Eastern Shore?s finest establishments such as in San Destin, Florida at the San Destin Resort and Conference Center, Florabama as well as numerous private engagements and weddings. Diane has made guest appearances at the Daphne, Alabama Jazz in The Plaza, and Cotton Club New York Night at the Daphne Civic Center. Diane has also performed for the 2002, 2003 and 2004 Alabama Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce National Shrimp Festival. Other Alabama Eastern Shore appearances include Kiva Dunes, Beach Club, Guy's Gumbo, Oleander Resort, Marriott Grand Hotel, Legions Club, Theater 98 and more...Diane has produced 3 youth theatrical productions, was a guest on channel 44 Mobile's "Cover Stories" hosted by Nona Simmons. Diane has written several plays, published an environmental skit for the City of Mobile's "Keep Mobile Beautiful" organization and is currently embarking on a book signing tour to promote her first children's book "Fred & Felix". Diane has been selected as the U.S.A. Artist in Residence to represent the country at the 2004 Gospel & Roots Festival in the Republic of Benin/Africa. The President of Benin, Mathieu Kerekou issued an apology for the role of his ancestors in the trans Atlantic slave trade. The Voyage of the ?Clotilde? to Mobile was the last known slave ship to sail from the continent of Africa to the United States. Diane has recorded a CD called ?The Reconciliation? as an artistic recognition of this event and as a part of her use of the arts in human affairs. This CD is themed on the reality of reconciling the African Diaspora. Diane will be returning to Benin to premiere her original play ?The Cry For Freedom? at the August 2005 Gospel and Racines Festival in Benin. Selected tracks from her CD?The Reconciliation? will be submitted for nomination for the annual KORA Awards held in South Africa in November 2005.
