Dave Pierce Bio
Dave Pierce attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston where he studied film scoring and commercial music production from legendary greats John Williams and Billy Joel.
Best known for his fresh approach to music production, Dave is also accomplished in traditional methods and music. Highly experienced at large productions, he frequently contributes his dramatic sense of scale and theatrics to the most complex and sophisticated entertainment projects.
Pierce's command of orchestration techniques is employed by many Broadway producers (ClearChannel Europe, Troika Entertainment USA, Nederlander Organization) for such smash hits as "Chicago", "Crazy for You", "Forever Swing", and "Thoroughly Modern Millie". Dave collaborated with Grammy® and Oscar® winning songwriter Leslie Bricusse to create a new theatrical stage show of Bricusse's 1967 movie-hit "Dr.Dolittle". "Radio City Music Hall 75th Anniversary Christmas Spectacular" with The Rockettes featured Dave's arrangements and orchestrations this past holiday season.
Other career highlights include composing a symphonic work for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and conducting the premier of this piece titled "Century" for Her Majesty during her 2005 Royal Visit to Canada to commemorate Alberta's Centennial. Recently Dave orchestrated, produced and conducted the Olympic inspired video "Believe", featuring Suzie McNeil and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. Dave has served as arranger and/or conductor for Canadian country legend Ian Tyson, country superstar Paul Brandt as well as international recording artists Michael Bublé and Carrie Underwood. In special association with Cole Porter's estate, Dave composed and arranged the musical "Hotel Porter" and has arranged for diva Petula Clarke. Dave was selected to arrange and conduct Jann Arden's hits for her Canadian Symphony Tour which resulted in the recording: "Jann Arden Live with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra." This critically acclaimed album was nominated for a 2003 Western Canadian Music Award, (Outstanding Pop Recording). Dave was honoured to conduct the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in performances with Jorane, Ron Sexsmith and Suzie McNeil to mark the "Two-Year Countdown Concert to Vancouver 2010", as part of the Cultural Olympiad. Dave has recently been appointed Director of Music for the Opening, Closing, and Victory Ceremonies for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
