A mere 3 Shmelts songs meant to confer 3-eyes and Holy Trinity! Wonders of Mankind!
Hey Robert.....Thanks for the review you did on "Sirens". It's the first piece of the Sirens trilogy and thanks for reviewing the other two as well. I like your open mindedness and appreciate your constructive comments..........Jim
Hi Jim, really liked "Sirens" as you saw from the review. I noticed from the notifications that you listened to several of my songs. Thanks for checking those out.
I really enjoy your music Robert. Your playing is also top notch. Some pretty bizarre sounds...which is a good thing. Good luck with your music..........Jim
Thanks for the review Wednesday. It's very much appreciated..........Jim
Hey Doru.....Thanks for the positive feedback for our song "Dream Warrior". Good luck with your music..........Jim
Delta.....Thanks for taking the time to listen to and review our song "Distance". Your comments are appreciated. Good luck..........Jim
A Perfect Day is way creepy, and stuck a memory chord in my head. Then I thought of the Stranglers "Men in Black" as your vocals tone is very similar to the 1980s rendition. It's amazing to me how many geezers are still out there, but it has occurred to me that we all might actually get better like wine and cheese as we age. Ever since Little Big Man, I have often quoted "It is a Good Day to Die," but never the Perfect Day. I think that day has passed.
Ah, the Cowpies. So nice to toss! Make great sculpture and burn real good when dried. One of the things that brings stink tears to my eyes when I think of my native Vermont. Paddies in the Field would make a great song, too! Keep up the Big Stink!
Roger.....Some really nice grooves going on here..... and great players. Good luck to you..........Jim
Hi Jim ~ Thanks for the comment, and glad you like my material! If you want a bigger taste, check out The Air Department, my world music project, at myspace.com/theairdepartment. Even more & more diverse grooves there! Best, Roger E.
Richard.....Ya man you got the Funkies like Little Feat. Funk On Brother..........Jim
Thanx for the props. Some don't get that it was a Little Feat jam. Lowell George was a god in painters pants!
Hey GST..... "Ghost" is a unique piece. Really cool feel to it. The sub-sonic bass notes rattled my molecules..........Jim
Thank you much...It's still in a "demo" state and being worked on but the feedback has been very good so far..thanks for listening
Got a Chance to review one of your productions,Very original style ya got going. Please feel free to keep upto date with future drumschool releases via my broadjam profile page.
Hey drumschool.....Thanks for the review and comments on "Trance"......very helpful. You're right, it probably does belong more in Trip Hop but I had the name picked out before I put it on broad jam.....Make sense??? Maybe not. Anyway thanks again and good luck in all you do..............Jim
Hey CB.....I just listened to Dying Star and found it to be a Very Cool piece. Nice sounds and textures and interesting. I also like your world view [secular humanism etc.] Good luck and be well..........Jim
thanks for the kind thoughts...best wishes to you jy
Mr. Gross ..........Thanks for taking the time to review my song "The Prophet and the Writer". Having said that, I think giving anyone an "8" on an original piece of music they've written is ABSURD!!! James Milewski
yes, the number system is weird and doesn't mean Anything. I hope the comments were helpful. Hope they weren't too critical. I think I listened to this song last night and liked it but since we're asked to provide "feedback" that inevitably comes across as negative. Noone can take away someone's talent though and if the song is ever sold and played then you can always laugh at the fools who critiqued your work unfairly and gave 8s. I sometimes feel weird using good, better, best as a way of evaluating songs. That's even worse than the numbes because it is comparative rather than individualistic.
Hey PantherLab.........Thanks for the the review you did on "Sirens". Good luck and a happy new year to you..........Jim
Pleasure - and the same to you !
O of E.........Congrats on reaching the top 20. Hope you hang on........Jim
Hey Guys, Thank you so much for the message! Hope all is well in your musical world!!
Hey James........I listened to a few of your tunes today. Very nice. Excellent guitar work. I really enjoyed "You Never Know". In the early '90s I played bass in a blues/rock band in S.E. Wisconsin and that song took my mind back. Thanks for the trip. Good luck........Jim
Thanks Jim. I'm digging your music also. Keep up the great work. James

Hey Larry.........You've written some fine pieces.....I heard a tune in the "6 pack" thing that was excellant and sounded like your singing. I'm a Woodstock generation musician and love to hear the vocal harmonies of that time. Good luck in the contest and in all else..........Jim
Hey Jim: Thanks so much for your comments. I have to admit that CSNY is as much an influence as the Beatles. And that's just the beginning. Wanted to protest using a similar sound to CSN and also make a strong statement about the current state of affairs. Thanks so much for your comments and support. Keep in touch. L
Hi Roy.........It was nice meeting you last week in Madison. You run a top notch organization. I'm very impressed. I'll send you one of our CDs soon and you can nail it to the wall if you like. Thanks again for your time and good luck...............Jim [By the way Megan enjoyed the Tootsie Roll Pop]
Jim, It was nice meeting you and Megan. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you had a great day in Madison.....Stop by anytime you are in town.....All the best, Roy
Roy- Do you recommend copyrighting a jingle for the six-pack?
Barbara.....Thanks for the kind review you did on "Dream Warrior" and thanks also for the constructive comments. It's good to hear differant thoughts about our music. Good luck with your music..........Jim
Kate.............Thanks for the nice review of our song "Distance". It was written as a humorous piece. Kind of tongue in cheek. When we play it live most people are laughing by the end. Some don't know what to think. But it's meant to be a fun song. Thanks again for your thorough review and good luck with your music..........Jim
You're welcome, glad I read it right....sometimes you just don't know!
Hey Shameless.....Thanks for the nice review of our piece "Dawn". "Blinded Vision" is an interesting piece. It sounds like something that would work well as background in film or on television. Good luck and thanks again..................Jim
cool no problem..and thank you
Eden's Empire...........You guys have created some very nice music. "Running from the Sun" is a great song. I was listening to your stuff as I ate my french toast this morning and my sense of taste and sense of hearing both were having a good time. Keep rockin' and good luck to you............Jim
Hey Roy! What's up! Wanted to say thanks for the opportunity to shine on Broadjam!!! I love the site! Do you have any pointers?
Strezs, Thanks for your comment, here are some tips: 1.) The most important thing one can do, on Broadjam or any other site, is collaborate with other artists. If you write songs with 50 other writers, you now have 50 other people pushing your music and increasing your exposure. If you look at the Top 10 songs at anytime in history, it's rare to find a song that was written by just one person. It has happened, but the greatest songs have come from songwriting teams. From a technical perspective, your name is now appearing in more search results and you therefore have more relevance to the search engines (not a huge point, but important enough to note.) More importantly, it makes us all stretch when we write with someone new. 2.) Get involved in reviewing. Top 10s on Broadjam provide good exposure and to qualify for them, reviewing is required. Also, listening and reviewing makes our ears keener and exposes us to other writing and producing styles. Therefore, improving our skills as writers. 3.) Connect to like artists and others as well. Not only doesn't if give you more exposure to them, your photo is on their profile and you are in touch with any updates they post. It seems that the most successful on Broadjam have hundreds of connections. I'm sure it's not true across the board, but it certainly doesn't hurt to add another connection. 4.) Listen to a lot of music. Every time you listen to a song, a link is sent to the notification page of your connections and this provides more exposure for you. 5.) Update your profile regularly as it will send notifications as well. Add a new song, photo, bio or update your news. We recommend doing this weekly. 6.) Get involved in contests, especially the 6-Pack since it's free. It brings lots of exposure to the participants and many friendships and collaborations have come out of this. 7.) If you have an interesting thought, contribute to the blogs. Lots of folks read and it's likely you will find others with similar thoughts. 8.) Use the comments section of Broadjam as a tool for announcements to your contact list. I wouldn't overuse it, but it is an effective way to communicate with your connections (and theirs). 9.) There are lots of other things, such as music licensing, contests, hosting, etc., that you use on the site as well. Some of these cost money, however all of the above doesn't cost anything. Put a plan together with the above tasks and update weekly, monthly, etc. It's extremely important to update your profiles regularly, not only on Broadjam, but every site that you are on. Hope this helps and best of luck, Roy
Thanks for the tips Roy!
Collaboration rules... By the end of the year I'll actually have more projects done this year with other artists than on my own. Not only does it broaden our exposure, but its gone far to help me evolve as a producer, and the results only continue to improve as we go. Its a huge ocean of little fish... But if you can get enough little fish together... Suddenly you've got a school of them, and its harder not to notice.
Thanks Roy..........Your post really kind of sums things up. Broadjam is a great tool for song writers. You should feel proud about the way this whole thing has turned out and I hope Broadjam just keeps getting better. Thanks again for everything............Jim and Gordon
Very succinct and helpful, Roy! I need to do more reviewing and connecting to other artists. Thanks for the tips -- and also for the new improvements to the site.
Proud to still be here with y'all.
Strezs, Pro, Jim, Gordon, Mary, Jerry, Thanks for your nice comments. We are very proud of the way Bjam is evolving, but we know there is a lot more work to do and features to add.....BTW: Feel free to connect with me and Broadjam on Facebook.....All the best, Roy
Will do Roy............and hope you are doing well these days my friend............take care.........Jer
How best to connect with you and Broadjam on Facebook, Roy? I clicked on your Facebook icon and it only offered the opportunity to post your profile on my page. Is that what you meant? Was expecting a "Like" button. Same for Broadjam...can't see how to connect w/ Broadjam on FB. Thanks!
Jamie and Orquestra Darma............I'm listening to "Road Warrior" for the second time because I couldn't believe how great the piece is. You guys just blew my mind!!! Excellant playing by everyone. I play electric bass guitar but I'm thinking of quiting after hearing the great acoustic bass player in this piece. [maybe I'll just practice more] Give him my congrats if you get a chance. Again, excellent work and I'll be listening to more of your music. Good luck..........Jim
Sorry I screwed up the spelling of Dharma..........Jim
Thanks, just now getting around to seeing this. That's very kind man, glad you dug it. Gonna check out your page !
