Hi Roy. I've just picked up one of these new-fangled Winders Phone 8 devices and the browser is not at all happy with the BroadJam JavaScript menus. Is there any plan in place to create a mobile-friendly version of the site?
Simon, I will look into it. We are exploring mobile options. Thanks for the input and being a member. Roy
....so I am now mostly moved into the new house, the studio space is about in order, the console comes back from being serviced this coming weekend.... now, where did I put my muse?
Hey Tribal Bones is cool!! I just reviewed it. There's a lot to like there and room to grow still.
Just had a chance to review Tribal Bones. Interesting indeed! Looking to hear more from this artist
Hi Liam I just picked up the review you did of one of my pieces - very kind thanks much. Just giving Sunday Morning Eggs a listen..... nice dude - love the groove. Fella, you and I need to talk! Love, Light and Peace -sf
Thank you for your review of "It Must Be You". Your feedback was excellent. I will most definitely consider your suggestions. Aloha
Happy Easter PC. How are things going?
hey not bad thanks, bro, considering. You and the fam OK?
Doing well man. Most of the herd are on their way over for lamb and ham in a few to celebrate Easter :)
Well look at dat - I've sudedenly started charting all over the place... did everyone else retire?
Hey Roy, have the providers genuinely gone to sleep for easter, or did the Amazon crash kill the updates? -sf
Simon, The Amazon situation is just about resolved. Needless to say, we are not very happy with it....Some of the providers may be taking a day off.....Hope all is well with you....Roy
thanks Roy. Happy Easter!
Backatcha Simon....All the best, Roy
Hey Roy, Not up to date on this Amazon situation, but sounds bad...I hope you recovered safely after that kinda mess...it does help explain what happened to BJ over the weekend! Wish's xoxoxoxo from my way for a safe recovery! Lori
Lori, Just search Amazon outage and you will see. One of their cloud facilities that host lots of websites, including ours, went dark and created quite a bit of havoc for us and many other companies.....Roy
it could be worse... He could be running the playstation network and receiving death threats from thousands of angry teenagers going through video game withdrawal and hormonal swings from puberty. it was pretty much the end of the world for a lot of them when they couldn't load up call of duty over spring break. Funny stuff... N
Now THAT was a funny comment.
N.Jones.....Great comment! Fortunately, we didn't get any death threats or irate callers. Most the inquiries were members concerned.....But I got to tell you that if my games were disabled, I would be ticked as well.....All the best, Roy
Hey Roy - I'm whining again. Is there any way you can have your majick coders include the invoice number and opportunity reference number in the email subject line? My homebrew accounting system would love it, and it would be wicked easy to track stuff. Thanks much for keepin' on
Simon, Thanks for your input. I don't see why we can't do this. I will talk to the guys in the am. Regards, Roy
If not the opportunity number (since it may be multiple and that, thinking about it, might just muddy the waters) then just the invoice number would be a greaet help Thanks so very much!
Hi Simon, We just made an update so now all email receipts include the invoice ID in the subject line. Let us know how it works out for you and if there's anything else that we can help out with just let us know. Thanks for being a Broadjam member!
Man you guys are GOOOOOOOD! Thanks so much!
Hi Roy.... talk about motivation.... one of my songs has received some fabulous reviews from fellow BroadJammers... so one question: I have been a member for a few weeks now.... how come I ain't rich yet ?
Simon, You are rich with love from fellow Broadjammers. Glad things are going your way. I will listen to your playlist today....All the best, Roy
I'm just messing with you, Roy. Just the opportunity be reviewed by fellow Jammers here is unique. It's ALL good. btw thanks for listening to a few of the tracks. The one that appears to be garnering attention is "Julieanne". The sax player on that piece is a 22 year old maniac who will definitely go far, Elliot Ventimiglia.
Backatcha Simon....Thanks for being a member.....After listening, I can understand why you are receiving favorable reviews.....Best, Roy
Thanks for the amazing review of "Julieanne".
Just a thought, Roy. Not sure if there is a good reason why this would not be right to do, but I think it would be cerrtainly interesting info to know how many songs have been submitted for each opportunity, perhaps showing in the activity page? When a song is sitting there with a high, or indeed low, percentage peer review, it would be cool to know how much competition was out there.
Simon, Thanks for your thoughts and suggestion....Roy
Easy question for you Roy, but forgive me (I am still a noooob). For our songs, if we have not enabled downloads, would the providers still be able to download if they wanted to store a copy of a track? Thanks man (Loving BroadJam btw!) -sf
Hi Simon, Great question - the opportunity providers do have the ability to access your tracks regardless of your settings. Glad you're digging the site! If you need anything let us know. Thanks for being a member. Broadjam Customer Support
Simon, Thanks for the nice comment. We're glad you're here.....Best, Roy
SIMON!!!!! I remember you from Guitarwar! What's up buddy!
Indeed Doug you are a gentleman and scholar, and obviously a man of impeccable taste ;-). Thanks so much for the really uplifting review of 'Julieanne'!
Sorry to trouble you, Roy: Evidently I have a bunch of review credits, but 0 songs 'activated for BroadJam review'. How do I fix that?
you go into add/edit my songs, and click on the red shield so it turns green. That should fix it.
EE thank you! I am sure there's a help page somewhere, but that would involve reading documentation.... like that's gonna happen.... we're musicians, right?
Simon. Thank you for your review and purchase of 'Take My Life.' sorry I don't know too much about Perry and what he's done. By the way 'Purloined' means stolen.
OK let's try snaffled, or perhaps blagged. Actually it was a completely honest purchase, but I stole the 99c from my 16 year old. Ah what it is to be a rich, professional musician!
Excellent for the cash to begin to flow the other way I like snaffled & blagged.
Just by way of asking, do you have any interest in collaborating on anything? (of course I mean musical, not a bank heist)
just purloined myself a copy of 'Take My Life'. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to review this piece the other day. Quite a song, Johnathan. I notice Perry Danos is credited for vocals. Isn't he the guy who did the series of Budweiser commercials? He sang on the album of a good friend of mine, Rhonda Hanson, a few years ago. Quite a song.... quite a singer. I wish you good fortune in all you take on, Johnathan! -sf
Simon, I usually don't respond to a less than favorable review, but in your case, I think you made some really good production points on our song YOU CALL IT LOVE. This song is getting some very positive reviews and I want to remix it. Everything you are talking about can be remedied in the mix. I love the idea about varying the instrumentation. This happens to be one of my favorite songs I have written and I'v e written more than 100. Anyway, thanks so much for taking the time to give me some specifics for improving a song that may have some serious legs. I write primarily for placement in film and video.
Thanks for accepting the review in the spirit that it was delivered. We're all in it together here, and unfortunately many music supervisors will ignore or pass over a really strong song because the production quality is not up to their standards. It's a shame because then both the author and the client miss out. Our songs are our children, friend, and if one does not get on in life as it should, just because it has a zit on its face, then that's just discriminatory and wrong. I wish you well in all you do, and let's watch all our kids succeed!
Interestingly I just got to review a second song from your stash. What are the chances, eh? I wonder if there is some way I can help? It seems there might be either an issue witht he compression algorithm that you're using to convert to mp3, or maybe the issue is in mixing/mastering? It's really detracting from the power of your work, friend, and we all need to help each other make out millions here. If there is anything I can do to help you with the audio, please let me know. I just listened to Tennessee Dreamin' which is a HUGE song, well sung, nicely put together from what I could tell, but the audio just didn't do you or any of the artists justice. Please please please let me know if I can help. -sf
Darn sorry - this sounds really harsh, and makes me out to be some crazy know-it-all.... sorry - no offence intended at all.
Simon thanks for the review of Quantum of Jazz! I'll take another listen to the tune after your review - you have valid points to make. Chiz.
Just had a chance to hear your song "Take My Life". Darn I hope you get rich off that one!
Thanks for your review of "Morning In Manhattan"...and for the suggestions. I agree with your comments. It was one of my first compositions from years ago and was, in fact, more of a Jam...sometimes, I think about going back and cleaning it up because i do realize it gets quite muddy and a bit monotonous in places...maybe one of these days.... I listened to your tunes and I am VERY impressed....stellar musicianship...awesome! You truly have a gift... Sincerly, Paul Mills
Wow thanks Paul! And thanks also for forgiving me for the review... hope I wasn't too harsh. If that Morning in Manhattan had a little more clarity and sense of direction it certainly would work very well. Thanks so much for the compliments on my music. Sometimes, I guess because of the enormous number of good and great musicians out there, it's hard to stay focussed, wondering if one's stuff really is up to the mark. It's encouragement like yours that keeps us all moving forward. Noticing the fine musicianship on your own piece there, if you ever feel the whim to collaborate, keep my email address to hand.... simon@simonpcfrost.com
btw love that groove on The Last Best Thing
Thanks Simon...and your quite welcome for the comments...I really enjoy your tunes. The "studio" i record in is actually a corner of our bedroom and as long as I don't disturb my wife too often, I like to mess around with the ancient recording stuff I use...ha ha. If you could see what I actually use for recording, you would probably laugh...ha ha. I will certainly keep your email address...It would be nice to collaborate... Talk to you soon... Paul
thanx 4 the review! alva
I wonder if anyone else has the same issues that I do interpreting the moods and subject matter? For instance, one of my pieces expresses emotional freedom and triumph. How would I select that in the multiple choice thingy? OK There's an entry for Freedom, but it's Political and Social, and the song just ain't. Another of my registered works errs upon spirital and emotional darkness and hunger. What do I do with that bad boy? Help..... please? -sf
Simon, Thanks for your thoughts. If you have any suggestions for additional subject matter, moods, etc. let me know and we'll add it to our internal discussions.....Thanks, Roy
