Thanks for the stars on snake eyes, much appreciated!! Listened to a couple of your tunes, it's great stuff! Dying by 9 has kind of an Evanescence vibe. Very well done! Will be listening to more.
Thanks George. Liking what I hear from your music as well. I'm going to be giving it a more focussed listening as soon as I can.
hey bud!!
Thank you so much for the 5-star rating for Abated - much appreciated :-)
Thanks for your ratings as well. I really enjoy your music.
Hi Pietro - Thanks for the stars on "Darkness"! I see you're "all over the map". I write/play different styles, also...perhaps not as diverse as yours though. I listened to a few of your classical songs--nice!! Susan
Hi Susan, listened to a few of your songs. you're a gifted song writer! I am all over the place, I've got musical ADD, I cant help it.
Thanks, Pietro! And I appreciate the stars on "Fallen" and "Ordinary Day II". I understand the ADD. I've got the start of 3 songs in my computer...all different genres. Nothing we can do about it...good luck! Susan
Hello Everyone, I am just a little curious.....I've never really made a dime off of any of my music through licensing. Maybe its just not good enough? Who knows? Has anyone else here made any money through licensing?
Hi Jacqueline, I did listen to Guardian Angel. It's a beautiful piece, very moving. Thanks for your kind words.
Thank you so much...... what a complement from someone so talented himself! I have a classical background from Juilliard and really appreciate your music....... Not sure if you listened to my song 'Guardian Angel'. The musical break has violins playing. Thought you might appreciate the classical feel there........ Best to you! thank you again, jackie
killer track!
Many thanks for the 5* on Pacini's piece "Cara adorata immagine". Love your "Piece for strings"!

Yo! throw back thursday, check out my cover of Magic Carpet Ride.
Good God, there are just too many cool things in this to comment on! What are you doing at about the 4 min mark to get that "melody" As a guitar player, I REALLY enjoyed this.
Oh the comment is about "Recollections of India" sorry.
Hi Pietro, Thanks for the comment. This is a 'party piece', to show off the guitar (and the player). :-) I wrote it when I was still a student at uni. I will need to play it again to see what's happening about 4:00 on. It's morning here and we need to get ready for work and school, so sorry for the delay. Catch up with you soon - it's been really good to exchange ideas about music with you! Marian
Hi Pietro, sorry for the delayed reply - I was interstate for a few days (also saw a great concert of Tori Amos with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Opera House). To answer your question about what I do about 4 minutes into Recollections of India? - I hit the guitar in different positions between the 12th fret and the sound hole with an L-shape metal slide, which produces the rhythm, as well as melody, by ringing the different harmonic overtones - similar to the whole finger tapping we discussed earlier, but with the metal slide. BTW, the slide is not a commercially available - it's a precious little thing of mine that I have had for some 25 years - it's key for electricity meter boxes I got in Europe quite by accident when I was looking for something that I could hold in my hand, as it is impossible to do the trick with your regular metal slide from a music shop. After that, there is bowing on strings in 4, 5, 7, 12 positions to get the chordal harmonics and finger tapping with both hands using 6 fingers and then finger tapping while strumming chord with the pinky of the RH at the same time. At the very end, I use that L-shape slide and I rub the string moving from the sound hole to the 12th fret. I hope this answers the question. I would be happy to show you a video of this, but I only have a VHS from a concert played back in 1996. I have to look into converting my tapes into a digital format. Cheers, Marian
Pietro, If you want to check out more of these techniques, there are two other pieces of mine in which I used lots of finger tapping on a retuned classical guitar and rubbing of string. There are 2 movements of this piece (Portrait of a Friend) on SoundCloud if you feel like it: https://soundcloud.com/marianb-1 Cheers, Marian
Marian, could you do me a favor? Check out my piece "Sicko" and give me your honest opinion. Thanks, Pietro
Sure, give me a few hours, please, before I get the chance to sit down at home tonight. M.
Can I write you an email via Brodjam, or are you happy to continue via Comments as so fat?
correction ....so far....my phone 'typing' skills aren't the best :-)

Two Worlds - 2. Journey.Love the percussive use of the guitar, also like the sitar part with allusions to Beethoven's 9th or am I just hearing what I want to? Either way it is really inspiring me to break out of my "classical" cage.
Is it a sitar?
two worlds 2nd movement had no intention to allude to Beethoven's 9th. :-) Not sure where you here it. tree is no sitar, but I have written incorporating a fed special effects. First of all both guitars are severely retuned. Then the classical who plays the melody has the 1st string crossed over the 2nd and 'captured' with a capo played with a metal slide, which gives it the twangy sound -alluding to the sound somewhere on the trip from Australia to Europe -any of the cultures in Asia really that would sound like that. it is really just a mere suggestion rather than any serious quotation of music of any such culture. Then the semi-acoustic guitar (that I play) is held like a cello and I tap harmonic in form of chords on the 5th, 7th, 4th and 12th frets with the full length of fingers (the inside part) that gives you an impression of some kind of bell ringing from a distance. Does it make sense? Cheers, Cheers, Marian Marian
Corrections: There is no sitar... and ...incorporating a few special effects
and last correction... harmonics... sorry, just trying to type too quickly. M.
Also, thanks for the 5 star rating for Longing for Home and Journey, Pietro. Very nice of you! What's with your classical cage? have you been locked in??? If so, I know how you feel - I have spent the last 20Â years writing commissions for classical players and now I feel like I need to change my musical direction. A bit of fresh air, so to speak. :-)
Love the idea of capturing the crossed over string with a capo and playing it with a slide; very cool. The tapping with the finger is something I've done before, its a great effect especially if your tuned to an open chord or fifths. I always fall back to the classical era music I loved so much when I started studying in High School, or I go the extreme to metal. I think it is an incredible thing to say that you've been composing on commission for the last 20 years no matter what type of music! I don't think I've ever made a nickel from my music; its been in very small indie films with no budget. It's in many libraries but never gets picked up. I'm still working on being a full time musician, you're the real deal.
My commissions have been mostly for live performers from soloists to orchestra even an musical, but not much in films, TV, although some of my music has been used in ads and films, but nothing huge. But I have been lucky to have people asking me to write music for them. For one even yesterday. :-). . I still teach music in high school full time. Cheers, Marian
Hello Pietro! Thank you for the 5 Star rating of Requiem! Blessings to you, your music and all you love. Will listen soon but the house is torn up with renovation and the studio is temporarily down! Rob Satori
Hi Pietro, Congrats on Serena and also thanks for giving Home from Two Worlds 5 stars. Marian
Listening to "Shadows of Love" amazing piano! Another perfect song for a rainy fall night!
Thank you very much Pietro! Really appreciated
Marian, I love "Two Worlds" I hope you don't take offense but it reminds me of "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails (a song I love) but a much more sophisticated/refined feel. Listening to it on a dark rainy fall night over single malt scotch- love it.
Hi Pietro, sorry I missed your comment. Thanks so much for such a compliment. It's always nice to hear that a piece of music speaks to someone, isn't it? Single malt Scotch-that sounds really good! :-) Was it the whole Two Worlds or just a particular movement of those four? Hope you are doing well! Cheers mate, Marian
Just got to listen to "Longing for Home" On to the next section now.
Cool. Glad you liked it. :-) Marian
Love The Dance of Silent Yearning.......Beautifully done your Education in classical is shining. Great Mix.....Jacalyn
Abram, thanks so much for listening. I am making an effort to listen to more of all of the great artists here on Broadjam. It's tough now though with 3 year old twins!

THX! Love your work too!!!
Marian, thank you so much for taking the time to listen to my music. I promise to do the same as soon as I have the time.
Thanks for the endorsement, Pietro - much appreciated! Marian
Hi Pietro, I left you quite a few comments tonight (sorry for the information overload). I really enjoyed listening to all of your songs so far and felt like commenting on what I was hearing. I only have a handful to listen to, but it's getting too late now here. Bellow are some links to YouTube of Stromboli I mentioned earlier, if you are interested to check them out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF4 Uch2D7dY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_V HZTqxOcs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js6 vjxcPRws All the best, Marian
Pietro, Vultures is so strong as a composition. I really don't like comparing bands to other bands, but I can't help myself being reminded of one of my favourite European bands, the Czech band Stromboli lead by guitarist Michal Pavlicek (not sure if they still play together, but they produced some great albums in the 80s. They have their music on iTunes, if you are interested to check them out. :-)
Man With No Country - love the vocalise around 1:50 in the midst of the death metal sound. Some great harmonic progressions too!
Pietro, Cappricio sounds great -did you realise there is a digital glitch around 22"?
Marian, Thanks for pointing that out, I put it up so long ago I've forgotten it. Will have to fix it.
No worries. All the best, Marian
Passing Madness- love it! The harp entry in the middle is great followed by the harpsichord and all 'coated' with the flute! What follows after is pure gold! You put Bernard Herrmann to shame! :-) One of my favs so far!
Marian, Passing Madness was a 'bit of an adventure for me. I'm not used to writing in that style. The sample sounds aren't that great but I'm glad you enjoyed it!
