Great stuff, Andy! Love the blend of the guitar with the horn section. Great grooves and melodies.
Thanks so much for listening Nils!
I really like you
Thanks.
Really mind blowing
Thank you, kind Sir.
if you dig some jazz - fellow peeps go check out the first four tracks at Nils Rurack. these are recent collabs with Paul Messina and are nothing short of BRILLIANT! Be Forewarned: EAR CANDY ALERT!
WHAT is going ON!?!? :)
Hey man, I'm good. Just not a whole lot on bjam. How about you? How is Dante's Inferno coming?
Cool - good to hear. Ya haven't been on for quite some time - but just finished 'The Fifth Circle' and uploaded it...So was making the rounds..Good to hear from you - - Je
Hi Spud - it was great meeting you in person last night. While I'm not too active on bjam right now I probably will come back and engage in contests one day. :)
sweet. Stay in touch!
Gordon - I'm not always current on the latest happenings on bjam so thank you for connecting. Your music is awesome. Fantastic guitar playing and phenomenal vocals. I love how you can sound like different people in different styles. Take care, Nils
thank you nils! you are a awesome player also. i enjoy your music as well as jack the blues! thank you for listening!
mental meets mental. . . or, is that 'metal meets metal'? either way, you are both hereby recognized as 'mental metal' (whatever that means)
I'm mental alright. I work with JACK. :P
Hi Natalie. How nice of you to connect. Just listened to your catalog. You have a beautiful voice and great versatility. Take care, Nils
I see you're doing quite well in the 6-pack, Larry. Congratz on the TOP3. Now go all the way!
Nils. thanks for your thoughts. I noticed your absence from the 6 pack this year. It is so good to hear from you. How is life in Texas? Hope you are still making music. L
Larry, we're doing good. Thankfully we were able to get out of Texas earlier this year. I make music like there's no tomorrow. I just had to take a break being a primo and simply couldn't afford the 6-pack. I'll probably be back in a year or two :). If you're interested in what I currently do head on over to soundcloud and search for my name. You might be surprised. Good Luck! Nils
Thanks for the update my friend. I am glad things are well and I'm looking forward to checking out your soundcloud account. Id love to do more vocal stuff for you. Any time. Talk soon. L
I will definitely reach out to you to do some vocals. It'll probably be between 2 and 3 months for me to prepare something. I'm generally writing what the notes in my head tell me to and now that you're offer is right there in front of me the notes will take notes :) I'm a mess.
The best shape to be in for writing Nils. I look forward to it.
Some nice stuff in your soundcloud account, Nils. You've been busy!
Just digging Fat Cat and Vai Me...
Congratulations and thank you for connecting with me - will enjoy listening to your music this coming year.
Wow Nils, you've got a great, versatile library of songs!
Hi Dianne, thank you so much for your kind words. While I believe I can wear many different hats I usually blame A.D.D. I see you have some great success in the 6-pack. Congrats to making the Steinberg Finals.
Thank you! Your friend in A.D.D.
Great stuff, Dianne. I liked the vocal harmonies on Only Human and also the use of piano instead of guitar sometimes. Good Luck!
Thanks so much Nils. I truly appreciate it! I'll need some serious luck today, given the crazy talent in there! :)
testing one, two, three; testing 1, 2, 3. this is just a test. if this had been a real message you might have a reason to reply.
the current disruption of service in the B'Jam message continuum appears to be an unexplained singularity
Hi CJ - I just saw Roy listening to your catalog and decided to check it out myself. Yes, your song titles are intriguing. Ok, I haven't been as excited about an artist as I am about you after listening to your catalog. Not only do you have the vocal and musical talent that I admire but it comes paired with the right attitude. Take care, Nils
Thanks Nils! What nice compliments :) You don't always hear nice remarks about your music. Usually it's is just rejection :0 Take Care CJ
I wouldn't worry if I were you. It only got better the more I listened. Once the versatility in styles came out you had me hooked.
Nils, I really love "Funky Farm" Who is Dave the sax man? He's great!!
Paul, remember the days when myspace was the only large online music outlet we had? It must have been 06 or 07 that Dave ran into me there and one day I asked him if he wanted to collaborate just like you. I loved writing Funky Farm. It is something so different for me. I'm good at playing around with harmonies but not so strong in putting many notes in a melody, at least not many that make sense. Dave plays with Harrison Fjord, Northcoast Jazz Collective, Stone Pony Band and Stagepass in Cleveland, OH
Paul's comment prompted a listen. Pretty wicked phrasing/melodic structure on those guitar/sax lines.
I totally agree!!
Hi Paul - I'm finally getting my HeavyMetalFusion songs organized and arranged. So I identified the first victim I'd like to hear sax on. Where can I send it to? Take care - Nils
Send it to flashpointjazz@aol.com. If you have a melody separate the melody into its own separate track and send me the rhythm section on one track and the melody on another. If you have a chord chart that would be a plus.
Hi Nils! I really like your collab with Matt Tebow! Excellent solo and very together tune...Nice job!
Hi Penny. thanks for your nice comment. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you but living in two places at once does that to ya...
Hey, Nils and Peter! I feel like I can now say "I Know JACK"! I've been able to listen to your JACK The Blues songs---awesome! I will try to post on FB to spread the joy! Thanks for some great music in my head for the rest of the day. My favorite groove is Don't Run Away....but, I'm not sure what I like best...that bass line (WHAT?), the awesome guitar riffs or that HARP---I love me some harp. There's something about all your vocals (who's singing, Peter or Nils or both?) that takes me back to (ooops--dating myself here...) The Doors. but, they weren't as tough as you two!! Awesome!
Thanks for your kind words, Betsy. I see that Peter already gave some deeper insight into our line-up. Thanks, Nils
Vince, you're too kind! Yet it was you who took third place. Congratulations again! Always solid. No surprise that after last year's second place you ended up in the top 3 again. Nils
Thanks Nils! It's been fun.
Dance of the fading flame gave me chills! You rock! Nils
thanks Nils. wait for the mixed and mastered version! LEAH
Nice track with Morgan. I'm fine. Love the groove bro!
Thanks Troy! Good luck in the 6-pack!
Hey congrats on your #1 in Blues!!!! I have been out of town...returning soon, and hope to work on song you sent me...cheers mate!
Hey Julia - Thanks and always good to hear from you! It's all about having fun. Of course it's nice to one day have a song that we worked and performed on together but the really important part is enjoying the creative process :)
Oh brother Ian, forgive me for I have sinned. I used autotune. :) Nils
LOL...and why not mate....most other peeps are usin' it too...lol
Hey, at least it makes listening to my voice...bearable...LOL
Melodyne is a very good plug in for tuning vocals.
Hi Paul, thanks for the tip. However, I won't be singing unless it's absolutely necessary (when collaborations don't meet the deadline for example). There is more wrong with my voice than just the pitch...
Give that collaborator a slap....lol
"step up" is one wild ride - so good to hear you "writing" in that edgy hard rock style you do so well!
Thank you so much, kind Sir!
Agreed. Sound great Nils. Reminds me of a mix between Megadeath and Primus.
Hey, Nils, thanks much for the kind note. Best of luck, and cheers! ~Kyle
Kyle, I love how you cover the Blues/Soul corner completely different from what my friend and co-conspirator PGO and I do in our little project JACK the Blues. Yes, that play on words is intentional. And your pipes are just phenomenal.
Nils, thanks much, man! I look forward to hearing your stuff. I'm pretty new to Broadjam -- at least to being a user of it. I'm learning how to get around. Thanks again for the connect ... and the lift!
Paul - listening to your sax playing makes me want to stop everything and write a fusion album. What do you think? Take care, Nils
Oh yeah!!!!! I'd love to do the sax for you if you'd like. I just have to finish the soundtrack for a movie I'm working on first. They want to release it before the end of the month. Love your playin too brtother.
No worries. As much as I'd love to drop everything and do something new and exciting, something I tried to do for a long time, reality is it'll take a while. But I'm hoping to have a song to you at the end of the month. Similar stuff I had done before are Funky Farm and Tarantula. Actually, I could re-arrange Fusillioni and October Day to include some sax. What kind of notation or sheet music would you prefer?
Hey -I'm Fine is awesome - great vocals too! Really fun to hear all the music broadjam artists have to offer ;)
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, the variety on broadjam is refreshing :)
Hi Noel - I just saw your latest conversation with Antho (that's what broadjam does for ya) and it sparked my interest. I had to go listen and the first thing that came into my mind was what an angelic voice! Your music is just beautiful. Take care, Nils
well thank you very much!! Peace,
add me to the list. Very inviting voice.
I am in total sync with Penny, I just listened to Nils and Peter's song "The Deadly Game" and loved it. Bravo guys!!!
Thanks, Felice. We try to bring something different with every song. Nils
wish the topic didn't belong to our time. our hearts reach out to those who know what none should ever endure.
" The Deadly Game" Very dynamic and great job by you and Peter and an important message!
Great playing and singing!
Thank you Penny!
Hi Nils ! how are you doing ? thanks for the add, Marie.
Hi Marie, thanks for finding me. Excellent songwriting on your page! Nils
Thanks Nils , you're too kind ! I've been listening to your music too and I really love it , I wish you a lot of luck with it, Marie.
Nils I did not receive anything yet...make sure you send to jjfoley1@msn.com. I checked my junk folder also...nothing there...
Hmm, I usually don't have issues mailing anyone. I just sent another message, this time without attachment. Once you get that we'll have to see if it has to do with the mp3.
are you making sure to put the number 1 after jjfoley? I still didn't receive...
Yeah, I usually just copy and paste to avoid any typos. jjfoley1@msn.com. Anyway, I used my other email to try and send to you. nils.rurack@sbcglobal.net instead of nils@nilsrurack.com. Let me know if you get it there and I'll resend the music.
I sent you an email and it said delivery failed. Maybe your server is down?
I responded to the one I received at nils@nilsrurack.com. I saw how the sbc one failed with "." between sbc and global. Yes you would get that one back...Let me know if you get my reply. I'm getting tired of stuff not working right. grrr.
sent the email with song as a reply. Hopefully this is it in terms of email trouble.
I'll let you know..
Nils...maybe you could Transmit the mp3 here...on Bjam...
Ian, the email gods are smiling again!
Kewll...
