Hey Loren great work as always! I recognize you from another 'forum' so I wanted to say hi and show some love on your music. Great to see a familiar face! Keep up the beautiful work!
Thanks for adding my song Awakenings to one of your play list Chill and the 5 star rating. David
Listening to Awakenings right now, beautiful piano piece. So much modern piano music is written in underscore style, but this has a really nice melody. Nice work; will be adding this to a playlist. Best, -Loren
Loren, I stopped in to preview some of your work seeing that you were brand new to the scene here. I absolutely adore "Broken, But Hopeful." It just tugs on those heart strings. You can't fight it. It's just there, sitting on that uncomfortable edge of emotional insecurity, hope, and sorrow. Bravo sir. I'd like to hear more productions from you like that if possible. I think your delivery is fantastic. Do you play freestyle or with a metronome? If you do a click when you record, a producer like myself could do a lot of great things with the MIDI. Heck... I don't even need the MIDI. Just stay in time (laughs to self.) I'm not really a live performer but I know how challenging that can be just for that reason. Every time I try a string takes out a puppy's eye or something. It's just a bad combination. Keep it up. Wish I had that kind of delivery with a live performance surely:) Welcome to Broadjam. N
Thanks so much for stopping by, listening, and commenting. I really appreciate it and the compliments! On "Broken, But Hopeful," that was done freestyle, but occasionally I use a click track and quantizing, depending on the feel I'm going for. Thanks again! I'll be back listening to your productions, for sure.
Wow, listening to Home (Roads less traveled Ost) now, and man...love the use of dissonance. That's very tricky to pull off, but you did it. Really like the recording production of this. Very original and creative switching between ethereal and driving beat. Nice work, and added to my playlist. All the best, -Loren
What a great thing to hear. I really appreciate you taking the time to hear my work and communicate your thoughts. I see you're new to Broadjam. If you're really into discovering new artists and some great work, I'd swing by the 6 Pack, do some reviews... Perhaps get to know a few of your musicians in arms in the 7th Can. In the meantime, thank you for exploring the work, I hope the studio continues to impress. N
Hi, Mark. Long time since the old mp3.com days. Good to find you here.
Impressive! Every one of these tracks is "ready." Love the marked, aggressive style.
Thanks Loren! Did you have a particular favorite?
I really liked Kingdoms. As I said, very impressive composing and production skills! Btw, I went to Berklee also, 78-79.
Thanks! Ah, very cool.
"Ethereal" is a beautiful piece. Meditative and calming. Just what I needed to hear!
Thank you Loren, your kind comment has encouraged me to keep moving forwards with my music. Blessings to you.
Perfect Storm is fantastic, Larry. Love the animated piano, and especially like the subtle switching from major to minor and back.
Thank you Loren. The major key was originally a mistake but I kept it in to add a bit of variety. Thank you again!
I really like "Lift." The beginning has a lovely, clear, treble interlude that is a kind of modern version of point/counterpoint. I'm a big fan of the baroque era, Bach especially. Whenever something evokes anything reminiscent of that, it quickly gets my attention. Very nice work, Mark.
Thank you Loren! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I know a little about counterpoint, but I didn't consciously apply it here. I usually just go with my ear, so it's nice to hear that a little theory is coming out!
I love the almost tangible elation in Lift! True joy beautifully expressed. Well done Mark.
Thank you!
