Thank you very much, Ian! That is wonderful of you. I told Lora last September that I had a tune for her. In October, I debuted the song on your Folk Night at The Top. That was the first time I played it in front of people. We were both very touched by the warm reception of all of you! We hope the song stays up there, too! Cheers! John

Hello there Duncan. Many thanks for your festive review of We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and sorry you were landed with such an unseasonal task. I keep that number switched off for most of the year, and I didn't realise it could still come up for review!

I've just been listening to some of your tunes, and I've really enjoyed them. The corbies convention, the Comrie pug, a long way from home - all great numbers, with a percussive guitar driving them along. And then there's Eilean a' Cheo. Very evocative of the West of Scotland. Made me think of the water horse meeting the pleasant maiden on a misty, rainy hillside in Julie Fowlis's rendering of Dh'èirich mi moch.

Well, I'm a bit of a folkie myself. I live in Belgium and host a monthly folk club here. Usually in the flesh, but Covid has turned them into virtual sessions on Skype. If you ever feel like joining us for a session, just let me know. A small group and all very informal and friendly. And a broad definition of "folk" - more or less anything unplugged.

Anyway, the main advantage of the online approach is that it does away with geography. We already have one regular player in the States (also a Broadjam member) and another in Australia.

Cheers,

Ian

Many thanks for your kind review of "Firechaser", Jeana. I appreciate it. I enjoyed the atmosphere of your "Spiraling Out of Control", and more especially of "Moonlit Glow". Some beautiful Gershwinesque touches there. Good luck with them.

Ian, This my 3 attempt to thank you for your review of "Scottish Moon over Dunfermline" crazy I need to stop using my phone for thanks ha! ha!...Hope you and yours are well in this world mess we are in...I am well but sad I have not been at studio since March....8 songs are waiting in the wings....Thank you for your listen and kind words....side story the people for Steve MacDonald from NZ wanted that song and others from a friend that wrote the poem...but she told them it had all ready been recorded and she did not want to give up the rights to her poems...the offer was substantial....she also wrote "An Immigrant Leaves Loch Leven"
Are you on cdbaby with your music? I am and yesterday I got 30 cents !/3 of an american dollar for 769 streams out of China...nearly fell out of my chair....glad I am not the sole provider for a family of many...am I ranting? sorry just thought it is amazing how little indy musicians are paid....I wonder who makes the money... but it's great to know i have been heard in Russia, India and China...I think Africa is the only place never heard...how about you? well stay safe and healthy your friend in music Delta.

Hello there Delta, all fine here, thanks. Glad to hear you're well. No, I'm not on cdbaby and, from what you say, I don't think it will be much of a priority. At the moment, I'm quite busy with a new project - a weekly folk music radio show that will air every Friday from 4th Sept. onwards. Meanwhile, the monthly folk sessions on Skype continue, if ever you feel like joining in ... All the best, Ian
