Hey Chet! It's Martine Baker! I hope all is well with you! I have a question. I have a couple of my songs on Reverb Nation. In the last month or two, I got a bunch of alerts stating I'd recieved over a hundred fans that wanted me to fan them back. I have never had that happen in more than 7 years. I just wondered if these fans are really genuine artists that like my music & want the support of others in the music community. Honestly it kinda creeped me out & wonder what you take is on this. I haven't responded to them yet because I need reassurance this isn't someone trying to hack my account. Thanks so much! Sincerely, Martine
Hey Martine, I belong to Reverb National, but I'm not very active on the site because they "brand" everything so heavily with "Reverb Nation". Screw that I (WE) and the artist and I think the artists are the most important part of these kinds of sites. The other thing, as you noted, is that people troll the site and feign that they like your music and want you to "like them back", so it can raise them higher in the rankings. Like any music site, there is a proportionate amount of people trying o develop their music and get their groove on...AND a lot of accomplished musicians.....STILL, Reverb Nation is fraught with too much "self-promotion". Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with promoting your self and your music, but there is a fine line of over-self promoting. I think it is more fun to go thru a site like Broadjam and discover cool artists. At the same time, I see you are on many Top Ten lists which I use to discover new people....which is fun. Bottom line, if you are climbing the charts (which would not surprise me at ALL) and people are taking notice of your songs they may be honestly interested, but I think the process needs to be followed slowly and with cautious discernment.... Of course, never give any person info to anyone pressing you for it.... there are a lot of weirdos out there....BUT, I know you know that. I hope this helps you. If I can help any other way...just ask. My Best....and God Bless, Chet...
I love the simplicity of the music & lyrics. The song is encouraging & uplifting.
Thanks Jeff!
I have to close my Broadjam account as I'm experiencing financial & personal difficulties. God bless all who have brought support & encougement. Perhaps the situation will change in the future. Take Care friends.
