Hi Nathaniel. Thanks for connecting with me. Nice to see you are an Aussie. Your profile is very interesting and I've listened to some of your work. I have a new album coming out in a couple of weeks and I'm thinking about making a Re-mix on one of them. Check out my song The World Keeps Spinning Round on my broadjam site and let me know what you think. By the way, I am a US native but I have lived in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil for the past 12 years.
Doug, Congrats on the new album, it's always exciting when you can pull together an experience like that, I hope it is well received on the platforms you plan to sell it in. I checked out the track in question and loved it! I really enjoyed your lyrical content, the groove of the music, and the performances in general. It all sounds live, before I can comment on remixing, I have to ask... Did you use a click track to record it? Remixing relies heavily on a consistent BPM, it makes it much easier to grid everything out, prepare it for transformation into a new genre and what not. We'll have to talk a little bit more about it before I could commit to anything, but I really like the song, and think it could have a lot of potential in a new format more suitable for the youngins out there (Smiles.) I too am a natural born American. I met my wife through eHarmony, and she pretty much plucked me out of a NM desert, changing my life for the better forever. Sometimes I miss the states, but then I just take a look around at all the awesomeness of Oz, and can't help but feel grateful that I'll be raising my family in such a wonderful environment. I too though have moved around a bit in life. I was even in West Berlin before the wall went down (Army Brat.) It's been a long strange trip indeed:) Do you Skype? Perhaps we should enjoy some coffee over a conversation. We can discus your album, remixing your music, and potentially other forms of collaboration as well. Shoot me an email or skype request, we'll organize something and go from there. Best: N.Jones
Hi Nathaniel. Thanks for connecting with me. Hope to be in touch
Absolutely Andrew, I'm sure we'll have an opportunity to talk more as I release new productions, blogs, & resources and plug them through the email system here. Hope your Easter weekend was a fantastic one!!! Best: N
Hi Nathaniel, Thanks for your comments and your review of The World Keeps Spinning Round. We purposely did not use a click track because our goal with this new CD is to create a more simple, street sound. Music here in Bahia is typically way over-produced as are the shows. We are working to create the ambience of a mini New Orleans in a neighborhood that fronts the most historic city beach (1549) in Brazil.
I have a bar in front of the beach and we produce live music shows 5 days per week at Sundown. My son is the bar manager and he and his friends (youngins) have suggested the song would make an interesting re-mix but it sounds like this may be too much of a challenge without a click track. My skype is douglaseadair I am always open to collaboration. We also produce TV shows and multimedia projects. Check out the pilot for our new Routes & Roots TV series. Piloto "Onde está Route 66?" Para Rotas & RaÃzes / "Rotas e RaÃzes", série de TV https://vimeo.com/149284739 senha: getyourkicks
I can totally respect that. There's been a shift to digital production and a use of sample this last decade and we've lost something human in the music for it. I try to compensate for that in my own work, but shamelessly admit I may know how to play numerous instruments... Yet don't. A bar on the ocean. Man... That's like my retirement dream right there. A venue to showcase talented artists in, enjoy some spirits, take in that salty air? I hope one day I can afford it. You produce multimedia then? That's fantastic. My primary purpose in the industry is to score for said multimedia. I've been pushing for such things pretty much daily. Hopefully a deal I just signed with an exclusive publisher will open a few doors this fall, there's been a lot of good feedback & handshaking so far, so I guess we'll see soon enough. It's all a gamble by the end of the day. Regarding your remix, it sounds like I wouldn't be able to do as good of a job as some due to the circumstances of your recording. I'd have to go in, map everything, tempo shift it to match a grid, and then get started with writing new material in a controlled environment. It would be a big job... But not one I'd turn down right away, I like challenges... Anything that gets me closer to BT or James Horner levels of greatness is OK in my book, just time consuming being I'll effectively be polishing new skill sets I've yet to perfect. Then again... I do charge what I do for a reason. Perfected or not, my results are usually well above the average industry standard. I'd have to take a closer look at the session itself before making any promises. If you hired me to engineer and master it... I'd certainly be in a much better position to provide a game plan after that process. N
Hi all
love it andrew!
Thank you Jamie!
