Childhood Alumni
Hailing from the trash-ridden street pharmacy district of San Francisco known as the Tenderloin, Childhood Alumni stands clear from their contemporaries, making music for themselves and anyone who cares to listen. Consisting of the complex and gritty Kurt Hustle, and the smooth-talking, witty Cloud 6, CA was forged when these two rappers moved to San Francisco to feed their hunger for something that seemed increasingly intangible.
The crew began rapping over pirated beats due to the absence of a producer, while clutching their own style. In doing so, they unconsciously proved how easy it is to rap like everyone else. Childhood Alumni is now working with several different producers, and are more driven than ever. Cloud 6 and Kurt Hustle candidly discuss their thoughts and experiences from a post-modernist lens. CA's sound reflects their distance from watered-down, mainstream rap, as well as their avoidance of the self-proclaimed hip-hop "movement."
Although they have enough tracks to push several mix-tapes, Childhood Alumni is in the process of creating their freshman album. Lately the group has been refining their production and studio sound and constantly killing live performances.
Let's face it...there are thousands of "artists" making songs that are only as deep as the bottles of expensive champagne they pop in the club, and Childhood Alumni refuses to be held back by such shallow limitations.
Godspeed,
-Childhood Alumni
