Writer / Emcee Recording artist from Wilmington North Carolina

Sounds Like: J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar

bio: CAROLINA TORCH

The man you all know as Carolina Torch was born "Sherman Darkoh" to Ruby and Joseph Darkoh in Wilmington North Carolina. The youngest of five siblings, one brother and three sisters, At the age of 12, what started as a hobby while joking on family and friends, was what sparked the flame for Torch as an emcee. While everyone mentions the obvious for their influences, Torch includes some of them, but also adds a few that many tend to leave out of their bios such as; " Rakim," "Scarface," " Outcast," and " Heavy D." Unfortunately, I couldn't dance so I had to wait until "Reality Rap" came back to the forefront. The era of "Biggie and Pac" was the movement that really got Torch into the art of emceeing very heavy. With those two talents putting the steam into the hip hop game, this was the driving force that pushed the art of being an emcee from a hobby to a career for Torch. As he began to realize the power he possessed in his lyrics, he began participating in local radio contest & performed in numerous shows and night clubs throughout Wilmington and surrounding areas. The artists known as Torch emerged as a variety of crowds began to follow this artist. To his credit, Torch opened up for Rocafellas "Young Gunz," he's been featured in numerous local dvds and magazine newsletters such as the "Encore Pub" and "The Block News Letter". With the buzz building in the streets of Wilmington about an "East Side" rapper, he got acquainted with another artist who shared the same passion for music as he did, Roncin Sanders. In a joint effort Roncin and Torch put their minds and talents together to launch the movement that started out as the "Port City's" heavy hitters and is now known as "Most High Productions." Tragically Roncin Sanders was murdered in December of 2002 and Torch vowed to continue the movement they both started. As a testament to keeping the movement alive, Torch released his first solo project, "General Purpose" under the Most High Productions name in May of 2004. The album flooded the streets of Wilmington and the surrounding areas within months. Torch is currently working on several projects and looking forward to completing his second solo album, as well as bringing the world numerous other projects out of Wilmington
