JoAnn - Women Who Can Produce
JoAnn Pepitone Bio
Classically trained composer and producer JoAnn Pepitone has led a very interesting life thus far. Her Brooklyn College musical education was only the beginning. Watching pianist Marian McPartland at a live
performance at age five on an Army base, playing in another room to the wonderment of all the male
musicians in the room, That was all the inspiration she needed to be empowered with the will to survive and grow as an innovator of music and notable female artist.
She cut her teeth in the New York City music scene of the 70's and 80's working with an eclectic variety of super producers. JoAnn began covering popular music in the NYC club scene, working from background singer, to keyboardist, to fronting her own group, the Anja BakerBand. Featuring JoAnn (aka Anja Baker)
Brushing with fame led her to eventually work with famed producer John Hammond Sr. (VP of Columbia Records), who produced one of her sessions. She also was a demo singer for Bob Crewe, producer of the Four Seasons, Mitch Ryder and Oliver.
In the early 90's her energies shifted to writing and arranging for others, this endeavor led to her penning a contract with Philadelphia International Records,
home of Gamble and Huff (The Philadelphia Sound).
Over the years JoAnn has been associated with, Diva, Sylvia Macura who wrote one of the top dance theme anthems of all times, "Lola's Theme" which has been a dance market chart topper in the world for over 5 years, JoAnn and Sylvia have co-written many songs and she continues to work with her to this day, in aticipation of Slvia's soon to be released albumn on major labels for national and global releases.
Beyond the producer, the composer, the co-writer and arranger, is also her passion to develop young and rising talent. JoAnn has honed her already incredible vision and impressive street credibility as A&R agent for Wright Stuff Management in Orlando that has worked with such notables as The Backstreet Boys , Pink and many other successes.
JoAnn was able to capture the attention of Asian television executives with her production of "Free" which landed the theme song for China's breakthrough first ever reality series "Team USA" which was recorded in both English and Mandarin Chinese and is heard all over Asia as well as downloaded from the network's website in the form of downloads and riingtones, She has also composed commercial's for AAA ("Here's to the Road") and Nocatee.
She developed the amazing voice and talent of pop songstress Cassandra Simpson (who can be heard on this websit, check-out "Just Don't Waste Your Time")
whose Christmas album received impressive sales on independent merchants CD Baby and many other independent retailers.
In the studio is also upcoming artist Ted Martin who was recently on ABC's "The Next Best Thing", Ted's debut CD will be hitting the airwaves this Fall.
JoAnn Pepitone's incredibly elastic and nimble repertoire of music in her catalog spans the genres of country, pop, jazz, trance, electronic, americana, rock and roll, R&B, dance and neo-soul and of course classical and film scoring.
JoAnn as a producer and composer is a self-made entity and the truest form of Renaissance woman I have ever seen since the likes of Sylvia Glickman. Armed with the enterprising spirit of Flora Purim, or Laurie Anderson, she hopscotches over all musical boundaries, effortlessly creating vivid compositions of every kind and breathing new life into everything she touches. Her touch is midas at its best, peppered unstoppable talent and charisma.
What we are about to hear are songs to be remembered and rare talent to be revered.
JoAnn Pepitone steps up to the plate and hits it out of the park for all the women in music to stand up and be counted, This the one woman show to see!
