Originally from South Africa, JD grew up on a vineyard in the western wine regions near Cape Town. It wasn't until the age of 13, when his family packed up and moved to the UK, that he took up the guitar and started writing songs. He completed his first album's worth of material by the age of 17. The Project entitled "Catharsis" was based on the emotional journey of coming to age.

Recently He has acheived success in the UK songwriting contest in 2005, getting to the semi-finals in the pop section with his song "Here with me"

JD is currently living in the UK.
