Jazz with fusion, Latin and Brazilian touches
Bio
Lewis Girdler studied some theory and composition at Yale, but he's been playing jazz since he was a child. Having spent most of his adult life in Europe and Central and South America (including three years in Brazil), he now lives in Boston.
He seeks to build on the great modern jazz of the 1950's and 1960's, creating new styles and structures within the jazz genre. He retains the musical quality and sophistication of jazz while blending in the power of rock, the expansion of fusion, the rhythmic excitement of Latin, and the restraint and joy of Brazilian music.
