Bio
Sixteen years ago after enjoying huge success in her native country, Iceland, singer/songwriter Alda decided to move to London and make it 'big'. With one suitcase and a few hundred quid she arrived with a huge smile and bucket full of ambition.
After replying to an advert in Melody Maker she met writer/producer Malcolm Meyher who not only became her music partner but also ended up as her husband. Alda and Malcolm spent every day and night writing and experimenting with various styles of music with Alda supporting the two of them by singing in pubs and social clubs every night.
After a few years of sending demos to every record executive they could find with no luck they hooked up with rapper/MC Munchie, a new manager and were pretty soon signed to Jive Records and Zomba Music Publishing with their group Urban K Loud. As with so many artists the A & R department did not quite get where the act was going so clashes were inevitable and two failed singles later they decided it was best to go their separate ways.
Urban K Loud decided to split and Alda became a solo artist.
A few months later a new deal was signed with the production house Q-Zone and soon after that Alda joined the roster of a brand new record company, Wildstar, created by Telstar Records in partnership with Capital Radio.
Real Good Time was Alda's first single to be released by Wildstar Records and it became an instant hit entering at number 7 in the UK singles charts. Real Good Time wasn't just a hit in the UK but swiftly reached the top ten in most European countries, Australia and Asia. The success of Real Good Time resulted in the track being used for a radio ad campaign for the World Cup in 1998 and so it became a sports anthem bringing Alda to the big stage of Wembley Stadium, twice.
Follow up single Girls Night Out sold almost as many units as the debut single and enjoyed similar success worldwide.
Pretty soon Alda had other artists knocking on her door wanting to do her songs which resulted in Aaron Carter in the US, Anke Pietrangeli, pop idol winner in South Africa and several artists in Europe and Asia releasing their own versions of some of her tracks.
Alda has spent the last few years writing a Rock Musical about the Nordic Gods and developing a new sound for herself and is now making a comeback with some catchy, fresh new tunes.
Alda's 1st single will be'You're Coming Out' and her new album will follow early next year.
