On 'A Century In The Making', songwriters Demian and Anne Marie Bannister (Calm & Chaos) continue to channel their love of classic guitar-driven pop songs by artists like Pat Benatar and Cheap Trick while also reflecting on some of their deeper journeys that life has taken them on since their first release 'Bad Decisions Make For Great Stories'.
Bands like the Foo Fighters may have influenced the tongue in cheek rocker "I Don't Regret Anything". The touching ballad "Don't Give Up On Real", a song they wrote to their daughter after her first heartbreak, is more reminiscent of artists like Fleetwood Mac or Damien Rice. There are songs to drink and laugh to, such as the permanent vacation imagined in "Let's Buy A Bar", and songs to fall in love to, like the unfolding adventure of "The Night Is Young). There are break up songs (the F*ck You anthem "Call Me Gone"), and even songs to cry to (the sparse, poignant "How Lucky I Am", written by Anne Marie to her dad who lost his battle with cancer).
The album was recorded at the storied San Francisco Bay Area studio The Groove Room with Vadim Canby, who has worked with legends who include Bob Weir, Huey Lewis, The Expendables, Acid King, The Doobie Bros, Vain, Sasha Dobson, Om, Marc Broussard, Don Was, Govt Mule, Dead & Co. and The Grateful Dead.
'A Century In The Making' finds Calm & Chaos "old enough to know better, but still too young to care".
