Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song for my daughter after her first heartbreak. My wife is the lead vocalist and is singing directly to her about not giving up real love.
Song Description
This is a song literally being sung by a mother to her daughter about getting through a heartbreak and telling her to 'don't give up on real' love. It references how great finding someone to 'be your partner in crime' will be. It ends with the line "it'll be worth the wait when you find a love like mine". The performance is as authentic as it can be, because we are a married couple actually singing a song for our daughter. It features vocal harmonies, sparkling acoustic guitars, sparse piano, and booming atmospheric percussion.

Lyrics
You've been faking it for some time
Settling for okay, pretending it's fine
I know you know the way it should feel
Don't give up on real
Warm summer evenings driving through town
Music turned up and the windows down
Dog riding shotgun that's how it should feel
Don't give up on real
It'll be worth the wait
Don't give up on real
You'll get to share a sunrise after talking all night
When you know it's real you'll hold on tight
You'll find someone to be your partner in crime
It'll be worth the wait give it time
You might have some lonely nights
Staring at the ceiling, so did I
Believe me I remember, I remember how those feel
Don't give up on real
You need to love yourself you got nothing but time
Know you're amazing enjoy your ride
You're gonna fall down sometimes, you know those scars will heal
Don't give up on real
It'll be worth the wait
Don't give up on real
You'll get to share a sunrise after talking all night
When you know it's real know it's right
You'll find someone to be your partner in crime
It'll be worth the wait when you find a love like mine
