Adakid's Bio

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Lakoste J. Blakely is more commonly known by his stage name Adakid. Growing up in the Southern side, he developed a great fascination for underground artists, their talent, and how they express it through their music. During his childhood, Adakid also spent a lot of time free styling with his God brother and friends, a memory from which his passion for music stems.
In high school, Adakid took his first major step into the musical industry where he started playing for a club with friends and also recorded his first single during this time. Selling CDs and having his tracks played in local clubs, Adakid gradually grew famous among the local audience. With these early achievements, Adakid became motivated and worked tirelessly perfecting the lyrics and music that he produced to achieve a significant breakthrough in his career.

During his interviews, Adakid mentioned that his musical style ranges from club music to collaborations with multiple artists, producing music for diverse genres. In addition, he has also said that the lyrics that are composed as part of his musical productions can be played in various moods and settings, where they adapt perfectly. When asked about his preference for musical production, he expressed deep appreciation for nature and prefers writing lyrics in such peaceful settings.

The musical industry can be challenging to thrive in and has presented numerous challenges for Adakid as well. Keeping a team motivated to achieve their goals despite the financial uncertainty that the profession presents and forging a path towards a significant breakthrough for himself, Adakid has been working tirelessly. However, he has never lost the passion and motivation that he has and always has tried to help others selflessly. He truly appreciates people who are serious and professional in their dealings, and adapt with changing musical trends, and maintain a positive attitude.

Adakid's transformational journey where he devoted his life to God has had a profound impact on his musical career as well. This pivotal moment has led him to use his musical talents for a spiritual purpose and to serve a higher power. Under the guidance of Redemption Outreach Ministries International, led by Bishop Dr. Elisha L. McCrary and Pastor Melissa D. McCrary, Adakid's faith and music have become intertwined, driving him to inspire others through his work.
