Lefty Jones Band was based in the East Village of New York City--zillions of years ago -- (pre-gentrification). They played locally and recorded their early albums there.   The band has spread out all over the map, but they reunite to record, and sometimes play a few shows.   There are a VERY large number of releases:  www.leftyjonesband.com.    This is a mixture of folk, folk-rock, blues, country, and definitely the kitchen-sink.
There are lots of jam-band elements, though the band also tackles many ballads.
The sound was described by one reviewer as "some sort of acid-drenched hoe-down" which captures the "live" spirit of the recordings at least.
