Although he was born in Amherst Ohio, James Kennedy was raised in the rolling hills of East Tennessee, where he developed his deep love for Country music. Growing up, he listened and fell in love with the music of Randy Travis, Alabama, and The Great George Strait, many of whose songs were written by Dean Dillon, who, unknown to James, lived just down the road. Even as a small boy, his dream was to be a staff writer for Sony or Warner Brothers, but life had other plans. In 1987, he moved to Cleveland Ohio and got married. A son, Dustin was born in 1989, and the marriage ended in 1995. The divorce was the fuel James needed to really get serious about his writing. For the next few years he made the bar scene, hoping to make connections in Cleveland Country Music circles, but the Nashville Connection never happened for him. Today, he is happily married, and still dreaming!

This song was written in 2009. I went to work one night with just the title, and started running lines in my head like I usually do, and this song just came POURING out of me! Although my brother is listed as co-writer because we are 50/50 on all our songs, and I can truly say I wrote it, in all honesty, I was just holding the pen. I cried all night as it came flowing out, picturing it in my head, and it was days before I could sing it all the way through without getting choked up. I have always dreamed of getting this song to Gary Allen, but I have zero connections in the music industry, so thats not likely to happen.
I also have a dream of several big name artists recording this song, and donating all royalties, including songwriters royalties, to breast cancer related charities. never gonna happen, but a guy can dream.
