701Klik is an up and coming rap/hip hop group that was started in late May, 2006. Members are Charlie Mizza of Fargo ND, and Jacob Ladda, from Oklahoma City. Due to Mizza's west coast inluence and Ladda's deep south roots, their sound has been decribed as "..if the wild west and the dirty south had sex, 701klik would be their baby." However their sound "could easily fit all genres of hip hop", says Mizza. "The Upwest is like the melting pot of hip hop. We hear it all up here. One day I'd be feelin' Biggie, and the next I'd be all about Tha Dogg Pound" Ladda has lived in CA, TX, OK, MN and ND. He says "I like to think of each footstep as an influence for each word I write in my music." Both have troubled pasts, including drugs, homelessness, jails, and needing a way out. They say that in their music they "try to be a part of the solution, not part of the problem." Their first album is slated to be released in June of 2007 in select stores and I-Tunes as well.
