THE TORCH
I'm in the music room and you're in the garden and we're wasting the day away
I'll sing you a song if you plant me a seed deep in the dark warm clay
The dog is sleeping on the old broken blanket that we lay out on the porch
He dreams fitful dreams in deep blues and greens
He's always chasing the torch
Always chasing the torch
The window is open and the breeze obliges. It smells of early spring
Faint hints of blossoms in cold fists of winter. It's all such a marvelous thing.
The dog is growling at something that he's dreaming or is it a cry of remorse?
He dreams fitful dreams in deep blues and greens
He's always chasing the torch
Always chasing the torch
