Story Behind The Song
This came out of a joking conversation between me and Producer Mark Riddick. One of us said, "shoulda got a dog." We agreed it was a good song title so I started writing it and then we both went to work on it. Hope it gets some good laughs.
Song Description
The way the Man tells the story his woman mistreats him and he thinks he should have got a dog instead of her for a roommate. However his life style could be at fault and of course the woman gets the last word.

Lyrics
When she moved in she was so damn nice
She used to do everything to entice me
But now Something's off it ain't quite right
No matter what I do there's always a fight
I Shoulda bought a dog.... Instrumental
I Should gotta puppy
Dogs are always happy to see you
And leave you uppity
She says...
My friends are loud and they drink too much
When I take her out it's always dutch
It's not like I'm ungrateful
But Most of the time she's downright hateful
I Shoulda bought a dog
I Should gotta pup
One that loves me unconditional
No matter what
I Shoulda got a dog
They'll never leave you in a rut
They'll even let you howl at the moon
And never say shut up
I shoulda got a dog
Solo ending pulling to hi note and vocal dog sound
breakdown
You know what she said????
My favorite chair is torn and old
The whole damn house smells like Marlboros
I like all the wrong songs on the radio
My truck is rusty and don't you know
Yeah you know........
I Shoulda bought a dog
I Should gotta pup
Someone that loves me unconditional
No matter what
I Shoulda got a dog
They'll never leave you in a rut
They'll even let you howl at the moon
And never say shut up
I shoulda got a dog
