This song evokes feelings of fear from violent storms, thus the title, "The Tempest." Vincent had Claude Debussy's musical piece, "La Mer" in mind when he composed this piece. There are wild archaic sounds and layered strings and woodwinds used to convey the tense mood of a storm.
