Be a Friend a Me

Story Behind The Song

The story behind my song comes from my close association with the black community, from being a career educator. I see my former students and their parents at our Walmart and elsewhere around town. We all seem to get along quite well and share similar views on society and concerns for our children. This song reflects a black scenario, but holds true for all.

Song Description

Picture a cookout in the 'hood and a carload of strangers cruise by. You ignore them and keep on chillin' and grillin'. You don't want trouble. You want to be friendly and have fun. You warn your kid about drugs and try to step in, but end up in court. You fight for your kid and still believe everything will work out.
