Story Behind The Song
Message from artist/songwriter Tyson Bowman:
I work as a waiter at a fine dining restaurant in Nashville. It is very competitive
to get a job at this particular place. I noticed that my manager was hiring people
with less political ties to the fine dining industry in Nashville. The people he hired were
overqualified, they just didn't have the political connections in the industry; therefore, my
manager gave them a chance when no one else would. This spawned the idea, "Thank God For People."
After working on the idea some with my good friend and graphic designer Vance
Lambert, I took the idea to #1 billboard hit songwriter (co-penned LeAnn Rimes'
"One Way Ticket (Westbound Train")), Judy Rodman. Little did Judy know, but
I was bringing the idea to her as a thank you for giving me the chance to write
with her. It was our first co-writing session.
Skeptical of my abilities, Judy looked over the paper with the preliminary version of "Thank God For People" on it. She glanced for roughly 10 seconds and jumped up replying, "I love it!" She quickly hurried to her computer and about 20 minutes later the song was crafted into what you hear now, minus a small change before the final cut.
I never thought this song would go anywhere until Darlene Fowler at HMG
Nashville received the CD as a fluke. My Mom, who was acting as my manager at
the time, had sent it to the wrong address! I can't remember exactly who she meant to send it to.
I entitled my record, "Thank God For People" because of the money people
sent in for me to record this project. Over about a year's time, thousands of dollars were
sent to my label. I acknowledge all who contributed on the inside insert of the record.
I want to thank you for taking the time to listen to this song, and I want to
thank you for allowing God to use this song for His plan and purposes.

Lyrics
It doesn't matter if you're black or white or olive skinned
If you can do the work
My Dad will hire any man
It doesn't matter if you have a checkered past or no degree
He'll be the first to give you
The opportunity
Chorus:
Thank God For People
Who let outsiders in
Thank God For People
Who help the hopeless win
Where would some of us be standing
Without people who give chances
To those of us
Who otherwise
Wouldn't have a prayer
A failing students teacher gives him lessons after school
Somebody lets forgiveness mend
A broken love, and make it new
An unknown singer opens
For a legendary band
Because someone decided to give someone new a chance
Chorus:
Thank God For People
Who let outsiders in
Thank God For People
Who help the hopeless win
Where would some of us be standing
Without people who give chances
To those of us
Who otherwise
Wouldn't have a prayer
Bridge:
There's someone out there right now
Who could use a little help
What goes around comes back around
When you need help yourself
The only way to thank the ones
Who gave us the shot
Is to pass it on
Pass it on
Give what you got
Key change
Chorus:
Thank God For People
Who let outsiders in
Thank God For People
Who help the hopeless win
Where would some of us be standing
Without people who give chances
To those of us
Who otherwise
Wouldn't have a prayer
