Lyrics
DASHES AND LINES
As Grandpa knelt down, I stood and looked on,
Watched him arrange flowers on Grandma's headstone,
He traced out two dates, then pointed out the dash,
That divided those two days in half.
Said son I have learned, the dash holds the key,
It helps us remember how things used to be,
Moments in time, sharing life's waiting game,
Those memories will always remain.
Dashes and lines, spaces in time,
They give life new meaning for those left behind,
It's not when you leave, or when you're conceived,
But what you do with the time in between.
Now Grandpa passed on, I've kids of my own,
The lessons he taught I now share with my son,
We don't really know, when it's our time to go,
But we all choose what we leave behind.
(Repeat Chorus)
