Lyrics
I lie awake on the naked earth
It's retching sobs fill my ears
Whispering that it has lost it's worth
And now it's end is near
I listened as the earth plead for mercy
But nowhere was mercy to be found
How the plea would be met I could not foresee
And for a time there was no sound
The trees do not listen
They lift their branches to the sky
The wind that had been whistlin'
Now does not even sigh
Even the clouds withhold their tears
As they view the desolation below
And for the first time the earth knows fear
As it awaits the inevitable blow
The sun, transfixed in a red glow
Extends one last illuminating hand
The light cascades down slow
It's death cry reverberating across the land
Darkness engulfs the barren soil
Silence screams it's haunting melody
Once a land of eternal toil
Now it lies dead from that fallacy
Now it lies dead from that fallacy
