RAPPING TO THE BLUES
I must have gotten up this morning on the wrong side of the bed,
because all kinds of crazy thoughts were going through my head.
I mean, I was thinking about dues that have already been paid
Like that girl, I lost way back in the tenth grade.
And that car I bought a little while ago.
I really needed a car but my money was low.
That used car salesman was smooth, man.
He said, "sir, you're just in time to catch a real deal.
This shiny red sports car here, it's got radio, stereo, turbo and I'm gonna let you have it for a steal
And I'm gonna throw in a 90-day warranty so there's nothing to worry about."
So, I bought the car and 91 days later both the motor and transmission blew out.
It made me so mad I could have blown a fuse
But instead, I'm just sitting here rapping to the blues.
This guy I know was out looking for a job and he told me nowadays they want to do a credit check on you before they hire you.
Now whoever thought that one up had to be a first-class jerk.
They won't hire you if you don't pay your bills
But how are you gonna pay your bills if you are out of work.
I remember one time I went fishing and I got lucky and caught a 13-pound stripe.
I mean, this was the biggest fish I ever caught in my life.
On the way home I had to drive by my favorite barbershop so I went in and told the boys about my good luck
They wanted to see it so we went outside and someone had stolen my fish out of the back of my truck.
It made me so mad I could have blown a fuse
But instead, I'm just sitting here rapping to the blues.
I don't know why I woke up with all this stuff on my mind,
Because this stuff happened back in time.
I guess, in my mind, I'm still paying dues,
Just sitting around rapping to the blues.
