Story Behind The Song

With this song I wanted to write a song that stressed the importance of the older generations being involved in the lives of the younger generations and how that strengthens all of us.

When I was 6 years old my Grandma sat with me
Pulled out that gray picture book, 3 generations of our family
She told me about her Grandpa, how he left the Ireland's shores
Ended up at Ellis Island in 1894
Even know he didn't have a penny to his name
The one thing he always had was faith

Some times you want to give up feel like you have no choice
But when life tries to get me down I hear my Grandma's voice
I'll pull out that old picture book just the way she did
I know one day I'll pass it on, to my grand kids
