Lyrics
YOU'VE GOT IT BETTER TODAY
BY:TERRY E CALDWELL
01/11/04
1. REMEMBERING WHAT MY PARENTS TOLD ME.
HOW THINGS WERE BAD DURING THE DEPRESSIONS OF THE THIRTIES.
THE SOUP LINES WERE SO LONG AND THE JOBS WERE NON-EXISTING.
2. HOMES HAD NO PLUMBING OR CENTRAL HEAT.
EVERYONE GATHERED AROUND THE POT BELLY STOVE.
YOU WOULD BURN ON ONE SIDE AND THE OTHER WOULD BE FREEZING.
3. WADING THAT SNOW TO THE OLD OUT HOUSE.
YOU DONE YOUR BUSINESS AND QUICKLY GOT OUT.
THE FIRE WAS BLAZING AND THE ELDERS TOLD STORIES OF YESTERDAY.
4. LIFE WAS MUCH SINPLER AND ALL WAS APPRECIATED.
WE THANK OUR DEAR LORD ABOVE..
AND ASKED HIM TO SEE US THROUGH EACH DAY.
CHORUS....REMEMBERING MY PARENTS SAYING
YOU'VE GOT IT BETTER TODAY
YOU NEED TO BE THANKFUL
YOU COULD LOSE IT ALL TODAY
5. NOW SHARING WITH MY CHILDREN
HOW IT WAS IN THE SEVENTIES.
THE GAS LINES WERE SO LONG AND EMPLOYMENT WAS AT ITS MAX
7' TALKS OF ENDING THE VIETNAM WAR
AND THE RECESSION OF 74
THANK GOD WE MADE IT THROUGH THE BLIZZARD OF 78
CHORUS
