Story Behind The Song
Although I recorded this song in 2001, just months before September 11, I had wrote the song in 1995. Even at that time, well before the current obsession with war and terrorism, I had a strong belief in nonviolence. When I released the recording in July 2001, I couldn't believe how timely the song was, and still is.
Song Description
"New Enemy" is a funky rock song, in the tradition of Edgar Winter and Sly and the Family Stone, that examines the tendency of American political culture to define itself in opposition to something -- basically, against something rather than for something.
The Baton Rouge Advocate wrote: "'New Enemy' has a harder sound, something like Nine Inch Nails with funk but no screaming or heavy electronics."
And, the Atlanta-based Music Morsels magazine described "New Enemy" as "back street funk to front porch blues to steamy swamp rock."

Lyrics
Fight a war, kill your friends
First it's you, and now it's them
We need a new enemy
We're blind to you, so we must be right
?Cuz there's no money without a fight
Hating you creates a policy
We need work running killing machines
We need a new enemy
Where's the gain when there's peace?
Insure yourselves against the thieves
Supply is demand, like the shit on TV
We need work running killing machines
We need a new enemy
GI Joe has market reach
We need a new enemy
Pray to keep, Good Little Sheep
GI Joe has market reach
We need a new enemy
I'm the call for humanity
I'm the new enemy
