Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song around the musical hook on the guitar. It really came together in a rehearsal one night, and I knew I wanted to write a song called "Back in the Doghouse." This is one of the few songs where I wrote the horn arrangement. It's just a fun, funky tune.
Song Description
A fairly pissed-off, straightforward "breakup" song, "Back in the Doghouse" is a swampy, funky look at love. The song features a very funky bass run through an envelope filter, and aggressive horns.

Lyrics
Honey, Sugar, Baby,
this time it's your song
You know that you drive me crazy,
put me where I belong
Round and round in circles,
first I'm up, then I'm down again
When all I wanted to see
is a reflection of myself shining
So here I am again
back where I started from
The selfish disease of love
has left my home again
C'mon, put up, put down, make up --
it's all the same damn thing
I planted the seed,
now I hang from the tree of my passion
Honey I just can't win
You know I just can't win
Back in the doghouse again
