Story Behind The Song

No Cameo started out, as many writing sessions do, with a casual conversation at the beginning of the session. One of the writers seemed upset, and when Porsche asked about it, she told us she had gone through an abnormal break up. The man she had been dating told her he was breaking up with her, not because they didn't have chemistry, but because he felt more chemistry with another woman. The writer was struggling to process this because nothing was ultimately wrong in their relationship to point a finger at and blame. However she was struggling with the question, "What's wrong with me?" During the writing session we began to explore those feelings, and ask the inevitable question, "What if this other woman wouldn't have come along? Would they have lived happily ever after?" The song was shaped around this entire conversation, a woman who is struggling to get past a difficult break up. However, we see her overcome it by the bridge of the song "I got myself", and the chorus encourages her to live in the moment, and enjoy the night instead of dwelling on a past relationship that is gone.
