Lyrics
Tonight I watched a singer sing a song
The people in the crowd listened
But not for very long
Some walked out and some remained
The singer carried on in vain
The song was lost the night was gone
The singer stood there all alone
I never dreamed a night could last so long
Tonight I watched a singer sing a song
And from the dark upon the stage
The singer stirred inside a cage
And lit the darkness all around
With penetrating soulful sounds
Strange and haunting melodies
Words sung warm and tenderly
A soul laid bare for all to see
The crowd was up and on its feet
Applause rang out from everywhere
The lights went dark
The stage was bare
The singer was no longer there
The singer was no longer there
I never dreamed a night could last so long
Tonight I watched a singer sing a song
Tonight I watched a singer sing a song
