Story Behind The Song
Ten years ago, my dear friend and I hit some musical festivals, partied, drank captain & coke, smoked clove cigarettes, and generally inspired me to buy a new guitar and write some new songs. She died on 04.06.08, unexpectedly, at the tender age of 44.

Lyrics
Fragile at Heart
Stephen A. Brunette
When I heard you were gone, I tried to write a song
'bout each life bein' meant to be lived in its own time.
Then I remembered your smile and cried for a while.
It'll take some time for these memories to rhyme.
Right now I'm thinkin' 'bout captain 'n coke, cigarettes made of cloves,
a laugh that rang so true, and I'm rememberin' you as
CHORUS 1
fragile at heart, searchin' from the start,
fragile at heart, wishing on shooting stars
for a love to carry you far away from here.
Been talkin' with your friends. Some wish they'd made amends
for somethin' or other, some are sayin' you weren't "So Bad" after all.
Some are talkin' trash, sayin' you lived your life too fast.
I'm just missin' you, wishin' you were here to raise just one more glass
of captain 'n coke, a cigarette made of cloves,
laugh a laugh that rang so true, and I'm rememberin' you as
CHORUS 1 (REPEAT)
BRIDGE
I never walked in your shoes, so I can't talk no truths for you.
If I could, I might say if you were here today you'd celebrate your life your way
with captain 'n coke, cigarettes made of cloves, l
laughs that all ring true. I'll always remember you as
CHORUS 1 (REPEAT)
CHORUS 2
Fragile at heart, searchin' for love from the start.
I know where you are. You've found your star
and love has carried you far away from here.
Fragile at heart, searchin' for love from the start,
fragile at heart, no more wishin' on shooting stars.
Love has carried you far away from here.
Now that you're gone, I think I'll write a song
about each life bein' meant to be lived in its own time.
