She Hums She Breathes

Story Behind The Song

i had the music written and arranged but hadn't written any lyrics. after an argument i woke with honeysuckle laid by my head and at first was mad that the other party was being nice, haha, how absurd, only to immediately write these lyrics, and the parts that remain from that first draft are the bridges and chorus and 'middle eight' section

Song Description

this song began as a reaction to an argument in a relationship, the concept being from the perspective of a honeysuckle frightened of being pollenated by a bee. the original lyrics addressed this more specifically but i changed it to portray a fantastic relationship between a viewer and viewee, the viewee being a fictitious personality seen in a magazine or on television, in a film, etc...

Lyrics

Seen a famous figure in a magazine
And I sat fascinated, anticipating.
When I tried to gather my wits about me
A certain sway had started to take control?

"She?s dancing in the air to my honeysuckle stare."

She hums and
She breathes and
nothing pleases, nothing at all,
'cause what she needs is something
bigger and better than me
after all.

As I fumbled with my wits and my cheer
She approved my action with endless patience.
She was whispering, yeah, bending my ear.
While I was faltering to this revelation?

?She's buzzing in the air,
and there's nothing to be gained from her attention.?

She hums and
She breathes and
nothing pleases, nothing at all,
'cause what she needs is something
bigger and better than me
after all.

And what if I never mind?
We could be standing here with sunshine in our eyes.

Now I?m bumbling, facing my fears.
Her dismissal waves in my face and flaunts
And every fantasy is staggering to me;
fascination is as good as guilty.

"There's buzzing in the air, the solitary sound of desperation."

She hums and
She breathes and
nothing pleases, nothing at all,
'cause what she needs is something
bigger and better than me
after all.
