A storm is raging, winds blow cold,
Driving rain obscures my road.
Still intent, I struggle on
Seeking shelter from the storm.
In the distance there's a light,
Breaking through the dark of night.
In the doorway there He stands,
Reaching out with tender hands
"Come, my child, you've traveled far,
I'm the Peace you're searching for."
I take His hand and feel the scar.

By dawn the storm had passed,
I looked outside at break of day.
And all around I saw where
Floods had washed the soil away.
I realized where I'd slept
Was the only solid ground.
His house was built on stone,
An island in a sea of sand.

He is the Rock I stand on,

I thanked my host and turned to go.

Here is bread and living water,
Take and you will never thirst."
I did as He had bidden,
And felt a strength I'd never known.
When I asked "Is there a way,
All your kindness to repay?"
He said "Serve, as I have served thee.
Tell others of my Sanctuary,
And the peace you found with me."
