Kiss The Kids Goodnight (Just Not Fair)

Story Behind The Song

Written by a loving father who fell asleep with the news during the Kosovo war. He bolted out of bed, sobbing uncontrollably, and was so real he had to call his daughter at home, in the middle of the night to make sure she was home safe and sound. In his heart-wrenching dream, he was standing on a street corner, holding the shaking hands of his daughter and her little friend as they watched in horror, as the streets were filled with black, swirling smoke that engulfed bullet-ridden, upside-down vehicles, and slow-moving tanks. Suddenly! A small, white, 4 door car came to a screeching halt on the corner and then, two very large, angry soldiers, jumped out and grabbed him, threw him in the back seat and as they were speeding away, through the dust and smoke, he saw his little girl sobbing and looking so helpless. He instantly realized he'd never have the chance to tuck her in bed or kiss her goodnight ever again.

Song Description

A very powerful song that will take you to the streets of a war-torn city where families, separated by war, must flee while leaving everyone they know and everything they own to run for their lives. With no place to go and no food or shelter, Precious, innocent, sweet, children and their mothers, must walk for miles to escape to safer borders, not knowing if they will ever see their husbands and families again.

Kiss The Kids Goodnight (Just Not Fair)
Words and music by Sebastian (Sam) Fasano III

Vs 1
Hungry tired and scared. We've been walking for miles now.

What little sleep we get, is shattered by the sounds of war.

It's not the whistles of the shells, or the thunder of the bombs.

But the children and their mother?s cry for the ones they'll never see.

(Chorus)
It's just not fair, it's just not right; to never kiss the kid?s goodnight.

Just imagine for a minute that you had no right to hold x4

your own children anymore.

Vs 2
He could not believe his ears. He could not believe his eyes.

His helpless child yelling, "Daddy come back!" as they pushed him in the car.

It's just not fair, it's just not right. He'll never kiss her again goodnight.

It seems the soldiers don't believe he has the right, to hold her anymore.

Vs 3
What we've seen here on the road is just too hard to comprehend.

I know the other side has families, separated just like ours.

How does disagreement turn to rage for what reason all this hatred?

We all serve the same God who hurt's to see his children fight.

(Chorus)
It's just not fair, it's just not right; to never kiss the kid?s goodnight.

Just imagine for a minute that you had no right to hold

your own children anymore.

It's just not fair, and it's just not right!

It's just not fair, and it's just not right!

Love the husky vocals and overall feel altho some of the lyrics not clear Good song tho (-:

very nice and "friendly" cool vocal in not a very friendly theme/song. nice story telling.
