Story Behind The Song
Written in the a C open tuning used most famously by Jimmy Page in the Rain Song.
Song Description
Sand castle as metaphor for a human life. The sand being the molecules born in the big bang from which everything in the known universe is made. The ocean being the infinite template of form from which all physical life comes and goes. The stars are an example of how in the macro world even those great engines of energy that have a finite existence although it is measured in billions of years. Yet when they die they transform and shed light that travels for a theoretical infinity. We too live our finite lives with an opportunity to shine our light into the future via our dreams made real.

Lyrics
Shine On
I am just a castle on the shore
Cosmic sand connecting, birthed in a black holes core
Weathering my time and my space
Wanting for the water that will come to take my place
Gulls soar like angels
They come and go
While we hold the beach down below.
Above my head so many stars
Have already lived their lives and gone
Yet they shine on
They still shine on
The dragons slain for maidens fair and tall
The heated rush to battle, the climb to rise or fall
Endlessly repeated like drops of living rain
Only to be washed away to the timeless sea again
Gulls soar like angels
They come and go
While we hold the beach down below
Still in my head so many dreams
Have already lived their lives and gone
Yet they shine on
They still shine on
