Story Behind The Song
I wrote this for my step-daughter Amanda when she was 9 years old after her cousins let her see a slasher movie at a sleep over. She had never been afraid of the dark until then.

Lyrics
Amanda ought to have the chance to grow up on her own
She shouldn't have to try and understand, things she never should have been shown
I know some day she'll learn about the mean old world
Until that cold day comes i want to let her be free to be a little girl.
Hey Amanda you don't have to be afraid anymore
We will stand guard at you door
Hey Amanda you don't have to be afraid of the night
We'll turn on your night light.
It's only the movies, it's only TV
It's only scary stories
It's only make believe, it's only make believe.
Hey Amanda you don't have to be afraid anymore
We will stand guard at you door
Hey Amanda you don't have to be afraid of the night
We'll turn on your night light.
I know some day she'll learn about the mean old world
Until that cold day comes I want to let her be free to be a little girl.
Hey Amanda you don't have to be afraid anymore
We will stand guard at you door
Hey Amanda you don't have to be afraid of the night
We'll turn on your night light.
We'll turn on your night light.
We'll turn on your night light.
