Story Behind The Song
I was taking songwriting class and asked to write a song with a similar refrain and only two chords, it was about two hours til class and I was scrambling and struggling for an idea as I was driving through Golden Gate Park, trying to force things and all of a sudden I saw a hawk swoop out of a tree and realized I am right where I need to be, if I just open up and listen the song will be right there, and there it was, tune, words all at once!
Song Description
Everyone needs to find their way in life, sometimes it takes struggles, but once you realize that you are exactly where you are supposed to be you can attain inner peace.
Each of us goes through hardships, we make wrong choices but God is always there for us to show us that we belong. Just the fact that we exist is enough, we should not try to push ourselves into belonging we should be comfortable with ourselves and then we won't be afraid to move onto the next step of spirituality.

Where My Soul Belongs

When I was young how could I know
It would take so long to go
Where my soul belongs
I'd been told to just have faith
Just be patient just you wait
For where your soul belongs
As I grew up I struggled and fought
Let myself be borrowed and bought
For somewhere to belong
I took dirt roads, I took wrong turns
It left me scarred it left me burnt
Craving to belong
But now I think it's clear
That it's always been right here
All it took to finally see
Was trusting God and me
And so today the more I roam
I know that I'm always home
Where my soul belongs
As I grow old my road grows short
But I don't have to keep on looking for
Where my Soul Belongs
Oh he'll take me
Yeah he'll take me
Where my soul belongs
No it won't be long
