Story Behind The Song
This song was originally going to be a hair-band type anthem. It retained a little of that feel, but has taken on a life of its own.
The story is a very loose examination of a relationship between two people who just never quite understood each other. Neither quite took the chance or opportunity to make it what it could have been. Maybe that is familiar. I would leave it to the listener to decide if it is a retrospective look at them, or in the present.
Song Description
The song was written in the key of D, but the recording seemed too low to carry the energy I felt the song needed, so I changed the entire recording into F#, a full major third higher. I needed to re-record some of the vocals, so they didn't sound like chipmunks, although some of the backing vocals still kind of do.
Unlike most of my songs, I am not initially offering free downloads of this one, because I suspect it won't be the final mix!

Lyrics
Live Or Die Trying
Live or die trying
It's time to give it a shot
Live or die trying
One life is all you've got
In the land of the living lives a man who is dead
No one can see him but they can count his head
He's longing for someone who once shared his bed
But she never heard a single word he said
She thought there was a monster hiding underneath her bed
The monster was not evil, but he cared for her instead
No one ever knew the love he held inside
So all the ever did was hide (from each other)
When you look into the eyes of someone you don't know
Something is familiar, and it's something he won't show
Maybe pain or longing or opportunity
Journey of a heart far beyond where you can see
