Lyrics

The Truth

In the beginning there was only God
He took six days to make everything then he rested and thought
I will make a perfect place for man and woman to live
I'll make it rain, there'll be no pain I'll give them my gifts

They wandered through the garden and found the forbidden tree
Where Satan was waiting like a snake just to lie and deceive
They both ate the apple and forever changed
Our relationship with the most high God, we fell from grace

The world contInued down a long dark way
Ignoring God and doing what they wanted instead
But a man named Noah bowed his head and prayed
God said put my creatures in the ark I'm gonna make it rain

He flooded the world and killed the evil men
Then he filled the sky with a rainbow and promised never again
He started over with Sarah and Father Abraham
He gave commandments and revealed he had a bigger plan

God above us, how He loved us but we were separated
He was sending us a Savior who would save us from our sin
The virgin Mary was the chosen one
She gave birth to Jesus, God's only son
Angels proclaimed he is the Savior

He was just a boy, but he had a lot to say
He started preaching and teaching that He was the only way
But the chief priests and the elders got angry and they drew their swords
They didn't like that all the people found God's truth in his words

The time had finally come Jesus knew that the end was near
So he gathered in the upper room with the disciples for a final meal
He washed his brothers' feet and told them he would be a sacrifice
And one of them would turn on him and leave him to die

The Roman soldiers took him and they beat him and yelled
Put a crown of thorns on his head and then they hammered the nails
In his hands and his feet the crowd yelled "Crucify"
The sky turned black and He said, "Father why have you forsaken me?"

Then he bowed his head and died and his mother Mary cried
All the disciples disappeared, they were afraid for their lives
They took him down and put him in a borrowed tomb
And they rolled a stone in front of it, how could this be true

But after three days, that stone rolled away
Jesus was alive is and it's a glorious day
"Why seek the living here among the dead
Christ is risen, you're forgiven," is what the angel said

Two thousand years later, it's still good news
That the Savior of the world lived and died for you
But he rose again and he has the keys to eternity
You can't buy it, you can't earn it, it's a gift for free

So what are you gonna do because this isn't a game
You'll die and go to hell unless you trust in his name
He loved you so much, he came from heaven above
He would have died just for you, that's how much that you are loved

Just bow your head and close your eyes and ask him to come
Forgive you for your sins and then when you are done
Get baptized cause that's what you're supposed to do
To show the world you're no longer dead, but you're alive and new

You are called to go and tell all the people the good news
Just like someone cared enough to share it with you
I pray that you will hear the truth and feel it in your soul
And you will open up your heart and let him make you whole

Peace
