Within Our Reach (POEM)

Story Behind The Song

Within Our Reach After the painting, "Reaching" by Yolanda Mazzoni Within our reach Within our touch These wrinkled hands Strong enough to hold Even the wiggliest of demons Those shadowy monsters Lurking in the dark Trying to take over Even the purest of minds That shadowy creature Captured now Unable to escape The suffocating grasp Of these determined hands Veins popping out of them Showing their tautness Wrapped around that furry, Vicious creature Weary eyes, exhausted, Sunken in, Barely noticeable now Showing its despair That demon is dying a slow, Unanticipated death Barely casting its own shadow now Lost in the outline of these lean Yet brawny hands Proud to have finally tamed that beast So quietly dwelling inside for so long - Noreen Inglesi
