Lyrics

Notable Works' Tribute to Audubon Society of Rhode Island
By Noreen Inglesi

Verse 1
Formed in eighteen ninety seven by Rhode Islanders
Who together worked to save wild birds.
Joined by love of nature and wildlife
Audubon of Rhode Island was born.
Audubon of Rhode Island was born.

Refrain
Champions for a balance of nature
On which all life depends.
Calling for biodiversity
Stewards for our precious land.
Saving land is their plan.

Verse 2
In nineteen eighty seven at Powder Mill
This oasis passed on by Louisa May
You can hear toads a'singing in the distance
Swallows nest in trees as they sway.
Bring people to nature's their way.
.
Refrain
Champions for a balance of nature
On which all life depends.
Sharing their knowledge and passion
Stewards for our precious land.
Saving land is their plan.

Bridge
Autumn leaves gently stirring 'neath the twilight
Crickets sing in this wildlife refuge
Scientist points to fireflies dancing
Eyes gleam with hearts as light as a butterfly With hearts as light as a butterfly

Verse 3
Audubon is steadfast in its mission
Preserving land and habitats is key
Showing how to grow gardens naturally
So bees, birds and butterflies can fly free
Pollinators are necessity
Pollinators are necessity

Refrain
Champions for a balance of nature
On which all life depends.
Sowing seeds for future generations
Stewards for our precious land. Stewards for our precious land.
