Where Do We Go From Here?

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song towards the close of a relationship. The person I was in a relationship with was lying to me and causing a lot of pain between the two of us. I kept asking where we were at and putting "the ball in his court." But, decided at the end that I needed to make the decision to let go and move on.

Song Description

A relationship is dying after a lot of hurt, pain and lies. One wonders what to do and what direction to take in the relationship when the other person seemingly does nothing to continue to keep the relationship going. The resolve at the end of the song is that the relationship isn't worth saving and the realization that this is the end of it.

Lyrics

Where do we go from here?
What must we do to survive?
Do we have anything left to return to?
Could this really mean goodbye?
We both know our love is fading
Yet it's hiding out in disguise
We can pretend that nothing is wrong
Still it continues to die
Where do we go from here?
What must we do to survive?
These questions you ask mean nothing now
'Cause you do nothing to keep us alive
How can we look at each other?
There's so much hurt and pain in our eyes
We got in deeper than we ever could have known
And now we can't turn back time
Well it's been a silent betrayal
I just don't know what to say about your lies
I don't wanna let go
I wanna keep us together
But one can't keep up this fight
Where do we go from here?
What must we do to survive?
Do we have anything left to return to?
Should we give this one more try?
We both know our love is fading
Yet it's hiding out in disguise
We can pretend that nothing is wrong
Still it continues to die
Where do we go from here?
What must we do to survive?
There's nothing left to return
I guess this is really goodbye
