Story Behind The Song
Every folksinger needs a peace song, right? Here's mine! God made us all different and we need to learn to get along. I wrote the chorus for this song a long time ago, and finished it just for this album. I wanted to use metaphors that kids (and adults) could relate to.
Song Description
Using the metaphors of cooking and colors, this song celebrates the differences in human beings with a challenge to learn to get along. Encourages kids to learn conflict resolution with the goal of peaceful relationships. What the world needs now is love, sweet love...so let's spread it around, holding hands and singing this song with our kids.

Lyrics
Let's cook a pot of stew,
We'll add onions and potatoes
Throw in a few green beans
And a couple chopped tomatoes
It's amazing how those flavors blend
To make it so delish.
And for our troubled world,
I've a message and a wish.
CHORUS: There's no two alike
We're different as we can be
I like the way God made you
And I hope you like the way He made me.
We're all in this together
So let's all try to see
How each one has a special spot
In earth's great family.
Let's paint a pretty picture
With a lot of different hues
Black and brown and yellow
Red and green and blue
It's amazing how the rainbow glows
To soothe my weary eyes
And here's a little message
For the foolish and the wise
BRIDGE : We're not a box of paints
And we're not a pot of stew
We're people who make choices:
In what we say and do.
It only takes two to tangle
It only takes two to fight.
It only takes two to talk things out
And two to make it right.
As far as it depends on me
And as far as it depends on you.
Let's be a peaceful people
In what we say and do.
It's amazing how a little love
Can spread the world around
Let's join our hands and sing
And lift up the peaceful sound:
SING CHORUS
